Cars can't be aerodynamic anymore because of pedestrian safety regulations

>cars can't be aerodynamic anymore because of pedestrian safety regulations

Yes they can.

>cars have to be aerodynamic because of fuel consumption

i buy this to cancel out any improvements in pedestrian protection

>Increasing the weight further

Shit like this is why modern cars are so heavy Airbags are like 20kg each, and the curtain ones are over 100kg

A wedge so sharp it shoots the pedestrians straight up in the air

>cars can't be aerodynamic any...

TOYOTA PRIUS - CD 0.24
TESLA MODEL X - CD 0.24
MERCEDES-BENZ E-CLASS - CD 0.23
RAM 1500 - CD 0.36

TOYOTA MR2 (W20) - CD 0.31
MAZDA RX7 (FD) - CD 0.33
PONTIAC FIERO - CD 0.36
RENAULT TWINGO - CD 0.35
GEO METRO - CD 0.34
HONDA NSX - CD 0.32

This.

Wedges and other old designs are aerodynamically terrible compared to just about any modern car designed on a computer.

Im surprised my z31 beats out a goddamn FD

>Ferrari F40 - 0.34

Reminder that CD is only a measure of the efficiency of the shape and doesn't account for the high frontal area of these cars from all being tall and wide as fuck.

Also FDs are 0.29-0.31

So for example

Nissan 240SX (S13)
Cd 0.32
Drag area 0.546 m2

BMW i8
Cd 0.26
Drag area 0.548 m2

Exclusively advertising drag coefficients is a great way to ignore the impact of how pig fucking fat modern cars are.

Like in ranking of actual drag for these cars (by the way the late model NSXs are 0.30)

RX-7 FD 0.518
NSX (2002) 0.533
RX-7 FD w/wing 0.554
Geo Metro 0.565
NSX (1990) 0.569
Toyota Prius 0.576
Tesla Model S 0.576 (the X would be considerably higher)

The Opel Calibra is still one of the lowest drag cars ever produced.

My car is opposite of this anything hit will be under the wheels.

>OP thinks cars are no longer aerodynamic
>1990 hardbody offroaders
I wish they still weren't aerodynamic. Even the Jeeps have curves now.

whoops. wrong picture

nice trips tho

>falling for the regulations meme
>what are supercars

CHALLENGER - CD 0.33

New cars btfo

This things aero is on par with modern cars even with the downforce

What the fuck are you talking about? Cars today are way more aerodynamic than their ancestors.

is that an airbag to save the pedestrian? what the fuck lmao

>wedge
>not posting the AW11

noice. You could always add some limb riser cables if you wanna just decapitate the pedestrian faggots

The fuck? Are there airbags in the trunk too for when you happen to kidnap a person?

>and the curtain ones are over 100kg

No way, they're like 5-10kg at most, at least in the recent BMWs (E9x and F8x M3/4) I've stripped them out of while doing race builds. They're like a long rope thingy with a pyro box attached to it.

Most of the weight in modern cars is in the chassis and mechanical parts. The safety and convenience shit isn't as heavy as you might think, it's pretty much all plastic these days and is light enough to be disappointing if you're trying to get weight out of the car. I've stripped everything non-essential out of an E92 M3, going as far as to spend days drilling out spot welds to remove small interior brackets and stripping down the wiring harness and stuff like that, and only managed to get ~2-300kg out of the car.
