You are tasked with designing and then prototyping a pure 2-seat sports car.
Do you choose a Straight-6 or a Flat-6 to power it?

Transverse slant straight seven mid engine.
Straight 4 is the correct answer.
But since I have to chose one of those, flat 6.
Lighter, shorter, lower cog.
neither I use a single cylinder 2 stroke engine.
VR6
straight 20 that runs the length of the car until it hits just before the rear axle where the transmission is.
Boxer-6 is more suited to RMR layout so obviously the boxer.
>what is torsion?
>what is chassis rigidity?
Must be sequential firing and extremely low revving, and stressed-member, so you can feel the wave of firing cylinders.
Also displacement should be
Flat 6.
Inline-6, long hood, behind the front wheels, driver and passenger up against the rear wheel guards.
but really its a bait thread to see if anons like porsche or not
straight 5 turbo
Single cylinder of 6L displacement, redlined at 400rpm directly attacked to the rear diff
That would need to be a wide, extremely short-travel cylinder to keep the car from jumping up and down. My 250cc single motorcycle vibrates enough, can't imagine a 6l one.
Enormous stroke, tiny bore.
Fuck physics
Depends. Engine in the back/middle? Flat 6.
Engine in the front? Straight 6, or preferably
opposed piston engine
short stroke big bore straight 6
2 ecoboost 3.5's attached at the crank.
Is that a gasoline engine?!
Well which layout do you think will make the best sports car?
diesel
Two-stroke diesel

Straight 6 duh. Flat engines are a meme
It's already done
Are my design goals:
>High CoG
>Obscenely long engine
>Heavier engine
If so, straight six. If not, V6, unless I can get the flat 6 to not interfere with my suspension geometry.
Pussy. Big bore. 20 spark plugs to light it off.
Holy mother of reciprocating inertia.
Those guide rods are erotic af
8.8 litre 3 cylinder (6 piston) Deltic. Triple-Supercharged.
BRZ is a 2+2 though.
wait, could that be powered entirely by magnets?
>>hurr crossplane v8
>>hurr flatplane v8
well since you're going to be a nigger i chose a 7 liter twin turbo flat 6
Mid mounted pushrod Flat-6
Flat-6 but not that pussy ass Porsche and Subaru shit. This bad boy is 8.8 liters.
straight 8 for sexy long bonnet action
5 liter flat six, single overhead with timing chain, 3VPC (two in, one out), turbo charged.
>"I finally squeezed a rotary into my car"
>"What? Those are small."
>"Not the REAL rotary!"
Ettore here knows whats up.
Neither. I use an inline 5.
either an na v6 or a turbo 4
with the option of a base non-turbo 4 for actual enthusiasts.
Neither, rotary.
>pure 2-seat sports car
MR layout
72 degree V10 (2865cc)
80x57mm (1.4:1 bore stroke)
11.5:1 CR
15Krpm redline
N/A with fuckhuge intake (using some Venturi-effect fuckery)
Variable length intake
VVT/L (something like multiair but with cam phaser)
unobtainium 7 speed SMG gearbox, engine block, pistons
777HP (or other meme number)
4 wheel-steering
huge diffuser for muh downforce
$125K for poorfag-spec
$1.5M for "hand made" (hand laid ?) "japanese carbon fiber" body

straight 6, the superior choice for ANY vehicle
A V6.
The car is a retro prototype for General Motors, a Mid-engine, RWD sports car reminiscent of the Fiero.
The front suspension is shared with the Alpha chassis Camaro.
The rear suspension is taken from the front of an Impala.
Engine options are a base model 1.4L turbo for fuel economy. Above that is a 2.5L Ecotec from the Chevrolet Colorado. Above that it a 2.0L Turbo from the base model Camaro. And the top of the line model gets the 335 HP 3.6L V6 from the V6 Camaro.
Suspension tuning is done by Lotus to make sure the thing legitimately handles well.
The car launches as the new Chevrolet Corvair, a retro tribute to both the Corvair and the Fiero.
And because a FWD setup is used in the rear, 4 wheel steering is an option. This combined with GM's Magnetic Ride Control suspension makes it terror on the track
>4 wheel steerign
>good
pick one
The original rotary was already posted here
a 4.6 liter flat 6 with a supercharger
>Driver sits behind rear wheels for that massive pendulum effect when skids are being ripped
I had gone between a 225cc dirt bike and a 500cc army replica and I could say that the vibration difference wasn't noticeable.
A counter weight alone should have a mitigating effect
I love u :)
Any answer other than Slant 6 Turbo is wrong
>Straight-6 or a Flat-6
1.4l 14cyl turbo radial.
No, it would just get stuck halfway through a stroke.
>how do speakers work
Oh yeah, I forgot speakers were free energy machines.
oh my bad, i forgot gas internal combustion engines are free energy machines
How could you forget that?
probably but not the way you are thinking
it would also be far less efficient than a regular electric motor
