What’s stopping the chinks from copying Tesla electric cars and selling them on the cheap?

What’s stopping the chinks from copying Tesla electric cars and selling them on the cheap?

copyright laws

Battery fires

>China
>giving a fuck about copyright laws
???

the fact the chinks suck at trying to make their own version of things unless someone tells them exactly how to do it

>chinks caring about western copyright laws

Because the chinks make cheap batteries and Tesla has other things such as supercharging stations.

why would anybody in china give a fuck about copying meme electric cars for their domestic market? the west are the only ones who give a fuck

chink batteries have a lifespan about 1/50th of that of the cheapest western made batteries.

Lack of a market.

cheap shitty BMS' that catch fire
teslas catch fire but only when you basically punch a hole straight through the battery pack

all those hoveboard fires recently? chinese battery management systems that don't manage their batteries = burn baby burn

actually the chinese government is pushing really really hard towards EVs to clear smog out of cities, you get a ton of benefits for getting an EV over there but the charging infrastructure is basically ass so people are kind of torn on it

Because Tesla is a luxury brand

If the Chinese want to copy it, they're probably going to cut corners on the luxury components first, putting it out of competition with Tesla.

>luxury
nah, just expensive

modern chinese cars have the interior of a 90s hyundai.

Battery capacity. It is very easy to verify the charge and distance driven. The chinese can provide false numbers on the displays of course so that if you are driving, the first 70% usage of charge looks nice and slow, so you think that the last 30% still has enough to get you home. But then, 29% occurs after 1 minute of driving. 28% occurs in the next 50 seconds. It drops to 27% after 40 seconds. It drops to 25% in 30 seconds. It drops to 20% remaining in 30 seconds. It now drops to 15% in 20 more seconds. And it then drops to 10% remaining 20 more seconds.

I've exaggerated the falloff, but I suspect the chinese gauges will be like that in order to make people think better of their cars. After all, most people will not bring their car down to 30% remaining after the warranty cautions the chinese issue with the cars on battery longevity.

By doing that, the chinese can ruthlessly also prorate the battery warranty each time the user lets the charge drop below 90% remaining.

>luxury
Example of chinese luxury

2016 Trumpchi GA8 Luxury Sedan $45200

>picture of interior taken from the back seat
>extreme closeup of dash

Please go and stay go, Cheng

>Luxury

There was an executive seat option, but hardly anyone bought it since 99% of people only have their kids or very rarely their friends in the back time to time, and having a folding seat and a massive amount of cargo space is more useful

Proprietary software

Tesla released their patents.

What produces more smog. A shitty 1 liter engine, or an electric car burning to the ground?
