I kept myself from Nier related places untill I finished E. When I found chest in the castle that had Machine Part in it that I couldn't pick and was hyped as fuck that you will play as a machine at one point which didn't happen because it was this fucking key part. I had to google this shit afterwards because I couldn't connect these chests that already had different role in my head

Hey nier general I'm thinking of buying automata and have a few questions. I have little knowledge of this game. Previously, I enjoyed Bayonetta and Metal Gear Rising, and now I bought a ps4 and almost done with BloodBorne (just to give you a bit info about my taste)

What is the general feel of this game? It looks fun imo but I just don't have time for every game out there and there's a lot good games now

How long is it? How hard is it? How is the replayability? Is this game focused on performance like Devil May Cry and Bayonetta?

I just got A ending and it wasn't bad at all, but doesn't that mean that it can only get worse from here on out.

You can easily spend 40 hours doing all the side quests and endings.

You have to play the game 3 times to get the real ending and if you're not interested in that then I'd say pass.

DS3 can wait, I'd get this or Persona.

Yeah, I didn't feel bad about giving up my almost 100% completion save after all that and I usually don't care for that sort of meta narrative. plus it gave me a reason to do it all over again

Ending C saves no one. Hackerman will go mad again when he awakens. Name of C ending is really good at describing what it is. Meaningless.

Only D ending gives him a real catharsis and finishes his character development in the most beautiful way it could happen.

Are the quests different on each route?

I did all of it on 70 (around 10-20 tries on cave fight)

A and B are mostly the same except for like one or two quests being exclusive for each. C has different quests though.

To contrast, I was actually level 99 when I did it and he was dead in like 20 seconds.

It's not his fault. A2 intentionally put a sword in his way when he was falling. If she truly didn't want to kill 9S (like she promised 2B) she could put her sword away.

There's a few 2B exclusive quests on route A and like 5-10 9S exclusive quests on route B.

Why couldn't they have a happy ending? Why didn't Pascal? Why didn't Emil?

B is mostly different gameplay from a different character perspective, but things go nuclear at C and that's when a lot of the new missions and story appear.

At the time that mission was the first time a game punched me in the guts that way. I was hobbling along the level, muttering "no, no, no, no, no" as I was dying from my insides being turned into jelly by the shockwave and cooked by radiation, desperately trying to find an exit, a way to survive until I got kicked to the curb and finally died staring at the goddamn mushroom.

Here I was hobbling along as 2B muttering the same desperate mantra as a character I had grown to like after a lot of hours spent with her was dying before me and I couldn't do shit about it

Dunno about you guys, but finding out they were programmed to feel guilt made me both angry and sad as fuck.

There's something oddly comforting about the idea that even when things seem cyclical, insurmountable and futile. Nothing is ever truly meaningless.

Even if nobody remembers your name. At one point, no matter how small, you affected the world and will leave a dent in the collective of humanity even long after you've gone as an individual and eventually we'll all go screaming into the void together. Perhaps leaving a collective dent on whatever comes after humanity.

After C you can warp to different chapters with current level, backpack and some open quests. It's like post game and clanup.

Most machines have names of Philosophers/Thinkers

It's absolutely crushing that when 2B realizes that she's finally free from the Bunker her very first action is a selfless sacrifice for a boy she loves.

I'm one mission away from ending route A and I have a question.

Will 2B have equipped the last weapons I used as her? Does it matter for her damage? I mean if I give her better weapons will she perform better or is her damage fixed and the weapons are just for looks? Or will she have her default weapons?

Pretty sure 9S killed himself and that's why his backpack and Toobies sword were together. The moose is the true hero in ending C.

I would play a game based around the sand sliding physics

This actually made me just a bit mad, I was pretty sure headed to the waypoint would kill her, so I tried to heal to see if that would have any effect and realized that I could burn all of my healing items and she'd still die.
Or perhaps there's an entire colony of DevPops somewhere isolated from other Androids.

Taro makes good characters just to kill them off for emotional impact

Pretty sure they reconsidered at the last moment. You literally see them arguing. In fact it's possible that it happened entirely thanks to 9S and A2 skulking around the tower.

You're looking at things from an outsider's perspective. DevPop died thinking their last act helped something greater. It's a sad ending overall but for THEM it was happy. For them it was basically a redemption from their original sin.

She will use the weapons equipped into her first slot and can be pretty aggressive in combat. I've noticed that her damage was scaling with level but you still better learn how to inflict massive damage with 9S (spear throws, Demon's Cry, large swords, etc).

It's possible that 2E was literally made for 9S

Now that you mention it. I'm kinda disappointed there wasn't a large sand sliding course ala Super Mario 64.
