So, Nomura randomly naming White Queen as a favorite Disney character- hint of an Underland world? It has a good bossfight built into it anyway. And we know Halloween Town isn't returning, so maybe this is his way of keeping some Tim Burton in there. He mentioned Oswald the Lucky Rabbit and the cat from Pinocchio as favorites too, also characters that have not appeared in KH yet.

Not that guy but you can just keep re-starting new save files and rolling with the free jewels you get until you get the medal you want. Plus the first couple M&B aren't too hard to get

That's what I did. Kept rolling new accounts until I either got 2 EX's or an EX and the new Kairi medal then got the Ansem board that had a M&B.
Sora EX right now also comes pre-dotted, only needed 1 M&B to guilt it.

Can someone explain the nuances of the Dream Eater/Spirit crafting system? I feel like half of this shit is just not explained at all.

Its the same shit.

There are multiple recipes for each Spirit, which can make slightly different variations (rank/stat).

The recipe items are just one recipe, usually the easiest one. In the synth menu you can tab over to your ingredient list and synth a Spirit from there.
Select one ingredient and it will show you all the compatible ingredients, as well as show you which Spirit it'll make (or their silhouette if you don't have it).

That's about it.

Spirits were a mistake

I guess I mean just spirits in general. Like, dispositions and how to trigger them, why affinity matters, why rank matters, etc.

Affinity relates to how often they attack. If you see your Spirit with a squiggle in the field, it means they're low/out of Affinity. If you level their Affinity, that'll happen less often which makes them battle efficiently for longer.

Rank is pretty much tied to stats. Base stats, at least. So E-rank Spirits are garbage. It's recommended you use Star-rank Spirits for Critical/LV1.

Dispositions trigger with petting a specific way or feeding them specific foods. Two dispositions will unlock hidden paths in Ability Link.
Dispositions affect which commands they have at their disposal, which you can check in a menu somewhere (I forget which)

The kanji is しゅつげん which means appearance/arrival.

レアエネミー = rare enemy spawn
ドロップ = drop rate
レイド出現 = raid spawn
レイド亜種出現 = raid subspecies spawn

As for objectives, if you have your katakana down it should become very easy, but here are a few words you'll want.
状態異常 (じょうたいいじょう), abnormal status (typically "don't get afflicted")

以上 (いじょう) and 以下 (いか), "at least/more than" and "at most/less than" (attack numbers or ability uses)
^These two are used quite a lot, so you'll memorize them in no time.

宝箱 (たからばこ), treasure chest (usually open all)

There are some more kanji that get used heavily but I think you can discern the meaning of the objective through context and what kana is also there.
