Pretty much every car...
Faraday cages are standard and have been for a long time.

If an rmp goes off your engines computer takes a fat shit. Hows it supposed to run after the computer and ignition coils are cooked?

You would need points instead of CDI. Im sure you could get the electronic parts you would need in some sort of EMP bag, but I would choose a motorcycle instead of a car.

Got a 1981 240D, am I safe from the red menace?

Get a bicycle.

In case of a shit hits the fan scenario, if you have a working car you are gonna be the #1 target for everyone else who wants one, and you've gotta stop for gas and sleep some time.

...

Same goes for a bicycle, dork.

...

Just about all of them?

Do you even know what an EMP is?

in a shtf scenario, fuel powered vehicles will be useless after fuel is no longer being produced. bicycle or horse is your best bet.

Plus you can pour used cooking oil in the thing if all the dino juice dries up.

A bicycle makes much less noise when moving and is infinitely easier to store, not to mention easy to replace because in the end of the world, everyone's a nigger and no one is above stealing a bike.

Also: gasoline holds for less than a year even with stabilizer. Same for diesel.

Cars that get struck by lightning do just fine, and yes lightning is a kind of powerful EMP

>Same for diesel

I think the car not being grounded keeps it from becoming affected by the lightning.

pretty much any car. all you will need is a jump start or a crash start

After a nuclear vlast the only thing left will be the roaches and the 240Ds

240D is the most invincible car ever produced

This is the only reason, any modern car wouldn't work after a weapons grade emp.

Well the mercedes has no computer components so thats why its not compromised from an emp.

No computer components and you can roll coal on a muther fucker!

Also points but nobody wants to deal with that shit.

I meant modern being everything 90+ with ECU's.

Nothing gets fried you idiot, the body is connected to the frame. Thus, the body is grounded.

Elctricity gets you fried you pissed off person

>he doesn't know about guzzoline

>nothing electronic ever fries because it has a ground

You're clearly full of shit. heres your (you)

If a cars internals are isolated from the circuit, ektrocity can't zap it.

Try changing the solenoid.

Things only fry when subjected to hot oil

You don't even understand how an emp works.

Needs one of these, a magneto or an injector pump.

Alternators are all kill.

If your car is off at the time, you have no troubles. If your car is on at the time, you might have some troubles or not at all, but it's not very likely to actually impact functionality.

Most cars will not survive it. They can design around an EMP but most manufactures will not because it costs money to do this. Our power grid will fail for the same reason.

Thats not true! You dont know a shit about lecteicity

surplus HMMWVs can take a tesla or two worth of EMP.

An emp just overloads active circuits or slightly damages delicate electronics. Cars have sufficient shielding that the delicate electronics aren't interfered with at all.

What would get cucked by an EMP would be street lights, gas stations, and home appliances.

Unless you're anticipating EMP attacks on a wide scale, the power grid will do fine, just drive a city over. Stuff broken by EMPs ain't going to black out the entire grid.

...

the EMP threat can be huge if done with an ICBM and detonated in the ionosphere. the radius would be about 500-1000 miles

>cars being shut down by EMPs
is it the day after tomorrow yet?

This and solar flares

EMPs don't really work well on microelectronics that aren't attached to massive antennas and are enclosed in metal boxes.

The reason why EMPS fuck with phone lines and street lights is because phone lines and street lights are attached to long ass transmission wires, and that allows the EMP to generate a large voltage spike in the system. If you don't have the miles long transmission lines to act as an antenna for the EMP, the voltage spike is going to be tiny.

They still work on microeletronics just not to the same degree.

I want to hear from a real electrical engineer......not a bunch of desk racers?

For 99% of shit that isn't wired directly to a transmission line of some sort, the effective range of an EMP is going to be inside the blast radius.

Most stuff plugged into walls will be OK, because the grid has protection built in for voltage spikes as well. It's just that the grid is going to be down for weeks to months while they replace all the fucked transformer parts...

Solar flare when, I want to see this shit play out.

Well were overdue for one!!!

Emp?
Extra magical pants!?!?

My car gets around 21 emp's

>diesel

That was good 10 years ago....

>in a shtf scenario, fuel powered vehicles will be useless after fuel is no longer being produced.

But fuel will continue to be produced. All the oil and gas wells won't suddenly stop working after EMP and crude refining is done by dindus in their back yards in Africa.

Methinks those who larp about EMP don't know much about how it works. The pulse crossing the power grid will induce damaging voltage spikes but vehicles aren't usually connected to the grid. EMP won't kill spare parts on the shelves or in salvage yards either.

Simple vehicles with basic electronic ignitions are unlikely to be spiked, and of course points retrofits will abound for older machines because machine shops can be rapidly put back in operation with plentiful manual machine tools. OA/OP heating and welding can join most metals, and the simpler engine drive welding machines like older Lincoln SAs will still run.

SHTF fappery is pretty silly. Whole nations live under "SHTF" 24/7 and still function well enough.

Vacuum controlled window regulators master race

Clearly continuous lightning affects the electronics, but after it's over everything is fine

>but vehicles aren't usually connected to the grid
ELECTRIC KEKS BTFO

if your area is being hit by ballistic missiles with a blackout range of over five hundred miles, you have much more important things to worry about than if your car works

futurescience.com/emp/vehicles.html

Any diesel with mechanical fuel injection

Actually the frame of your car IS a farraday cage.

Like if i stockpiled enough beef stroganoff MREs!!!
Are MREs affected by EMPs?

>Automobiles were subjected to EMP environments under both engine turned off and engine turned on conditions. No effects were subsequently observed in those automobiles that were not turned on during EMP exposure. The most serious effect observed on running automobiles was that the motors in three cars stopped at field strengths of approximately 30 kV/m or above. In an actual EMP exposure, these vehicles would glide to a stop and require the driver to restart them. Electronics in the dashboard of one automobile were damaged and required repair. Other effects were relatively minor. Twenty-five automobiles exhibited malfunctions that could be considered only a nuisance (e.g., blinking dashboard lights) and did not require driver intervention to correct. Eight of the 37 cars tested did not exhibit any anomalous response.

Well that settles that.Just start the car again and keep driving

This settles nothing ! EMPs will kill all the cara except the impercious 240D.

Its not even a matter of if, but really just a matter of when.

This is irrelevant

> not running your car on charcoal fumes

Did you nigger even read this shit

>also must re-emphasize the fact that during Soviet high-altitude nuclear tests over Kazakhstan in 1962, rugged diesel generators having no solid state parts were burned out by E1 EMP. In an important international electromagnetics conference in 1994, after the breakup of the Soviet Union, General Vladimir Loborev delivered an important technical paper in which he stated, "The matter of this phenomenon is that the electrical puncture occurs at the weak point of a system. Next, the heat puncture is developed at that point, under the action of the power voltage; as a result, the electrical power source is put out of action very often." This illustrates that even vehicles without an electronic ignition or other electronic components are not completely immune from EMP.

NO.

but muh points ignition

I think it emphasises shitness of 60's Soviet made generators.

>Is there any other car that will run after a electromagnetic pulse?
That has rectifiers in the alternator and a voltage regulator.

Gasoline stations won't pump any more gasoline for you out of their tanks. So you have to get gas from somewhere somehow.

Police are heavily dependent on radios as a force multiplier when fighting dindu. Without radios, the police will all be killed because dindu and spics who shoot first have the killing advantage. Society will go downhill very fast due to the gang type violence, so driving your car around is a bad thing since it makes you both visible and exposed to lots of different dindu who will shoot you.
