This is a long shot, but maybe I can find some help. The previous owner of my bike fucked up the right fairing. I didn't realize it til I tried to take it off to replace the clutch cable. But two tabs that screw into the frame are missing, he had it rigged up somehow so it was held on with just the pressure from the other fairings.

I've got it held together with the other bolts and some duct tape and it's holding on alright, but I'd like to fix it properly. Do any of y'all know where I can get just the right fairing for an 06-08 Ninja 650. Red would be ideal, but I could paint match a different color one if needed.

Willing to pay a reasonable price for it. Just don't wanna ride around with my bike held together with duct tape.

Thought about going for a naked bike, but buying and mounting a headlight and cluster could be pretty costly.

hey /dbt/, I really want to get into motorcycles and I started saving up for all the money that goes into it. what's a good budget for a starting rider? MSF, gear, bike, insurance, etc... what sort of entry fee am I looking at? I estimated about 2500 for everything, considering I'd start on a Craigslist 250. is that about right?

Not very old, since I've only had her about two weeks. Should hit 500 miles on it tonight if the weather holds. Saturday was absolutely beautiful. Rode her up to the folks place to help move two loads of raiload ties (*ugh*), heading home and decided to take a left two turns early. 326 miles, multiple crossings of the St. Croix and a Dairy Queen dinner later, I made it home.

I don't know about burgerland but a decent bike costs about 1500/2000, then you have to count all the gear and insurance. For the gear I'd say at least 150 for the helmet then it depends if you buy new or used gear, with 300 you can get a decent used leather jacket and pants, at least 100 for the boots and about that much for the gloves. Can't tell about burgerland insurance.

I've found that other than one little rubber gasket it seal, you don't really need carb rebuild kits. Just a good cleaning will do it usually

Normally yes, but the bowl drain value needle is bad on this one. The morning after I run it, there is always a little puddle of pissed out gas. I pulled the needle, and it is a bit corroded. Hopefully the seat is ok, otherwise I could be fucked.

my bike has an 80-85kmh first gear
top speed is 222kmh

it's a midsize twin cylinder naked, a sportbike will be faster up top where aero starts coming into play

In a vacuum sure but wind resistance is an exponential value, so the faster you go the shorter the gears need to be. My bike does about 70 in first, 100 in second, 120 in third, then 4 5 and 6 just to to get it up to 150.

If this is yours, did you document your build? Im interested in doing something similar.
