Versus mode is the worst part of L4D largely thanks to its playerbase.

Versus in payday would be garbage. Never mind the skill trees and perk decks, just think of the weapons. Even if you were to revamp all the game systems save the levels it would still be crap. There are other games you can play if you want a competitive shooter with small teams.
