263 probably has more winner potential since it's faster. it's a winner tank if you can position well
people might say the 268 is a bad tank. i don't think it's the best tank either, but i think it's easy to play and you can do well it in
i think the 704 is better than it though, tier for tier

for sure the 268 is easier to grind, because the su-101 and su-122-54 are really hard tanks (aka bad accuracy stats and low alpha at the same time)
the 268 line just is much slower. being passive is just opening yourself to losses when proactive strategies are necessary. if you don't believe this, the 268 will be better because you can't go wrong with a drive up and click big numbers tank
