no not super rare, but its not a common sight either it being a Triumph. Its at such a good deal though which is mainly why I want to secure this particular one.

My instructor has one and said its a really great bike.

Parts expensive: Not really. I pulled together a complete rebuild kit for about $200.
Labor expensive: Nothing special. They are pretty damned simple, if you've rebuilt a lawnmower engine you could handle it yourself.
Time expensive: Potentially. That complete rebuild kit I mentioned above included hard parts coming slow-boat from Taiwan, bearings from Vietnam, and gaskets from Italy.

Goldwings, vmaxes, etc actually hold some respect because they are top of the line shit that competes directly with HD while having their own distinct image, history, and culture instead of bikes that sort of look like harleys from 30 feet away.

people use them for an alternative to cruisers for touring and they do a pretty great job at it.

supersports seem to be on the decline as they're being replaced by nakeds with engines too powerful for their spaghetti chassis. ADV and supermoto still seem to be on the rise.

Way harder to do, the frame has to support it -wich will almost never happen- and the weight and vibes problems that might arise discourage many from attempting such.

Built a motorized bicycle and suddenly I want something that isn't completely gutless and can actually make it more than three miles before breaking down, I like cruisers and don't want to spend more than 1800, maybe 2000.

What are my options? I like the Rebel but the guys in my shop say a 250 will bore me to tears and cannot into highways, so I'm thinking a Shadow or Kawasaki Vulcan 500. What else is out there for me? Do I need the bike to get my license or should I get the license first?
