Acceptable number of cylinders?

I'm looking to buy a car. This may be a stupid question, but what is the minimum number of cylinders I should have in my car?

Define haul ass there, jethro

4

In the sense that it could go super speedy and would pull ass.

12 if you really want to haul ass

you're gonna need at least 3, 4 if you really wanna put power down

WELL

That's less dependent on the engine and more dependent on the gearing of the vehicle.

I suggest watching HOURS of videos on gearing between transmissions and differentials.

THEN I would advise at least 6 cylinders, but I only own a 4-banger and a V8 Ranger.

If you can break the wheels loose on dry pavement, you need suspension work. If you can't break the wheels lose, you need to develop power.

"4" for most cars, 3 if its some teeny tiny kei car

JATO-equipped twingo.

6 and more if you want serious power

Unless you can get a forced induction 4 cyl, get a 6 minimum.

4, enough boost makes anything fast.

Why are you looking for validation about muh v6 or muh v8 from a vietnamese basketweaving board?

>1
that's not even a car engine
>2
so, you drive a lawnmower? cool.
>3
shitbox tier engine that manufacturers made using 3 chainsaws
>4
the base, makes good power and gets good milage. Used for decades.
>5
Volvo tier, not bad as an engine but hard to find
>6
truck tier, there are a few good I6 engines for normal cars too...
>7
farmer engine.
>8
the performance tier, great sound
>9
either one of your 10 cylinders isn't working or you're driving a ship
>10
tends to be between the exotic and power tier, usually found in german cars
>11
it's an old V12 mercedes, we get it
>12
exotic tier, you'll never need this many cylinders
>12+
send help

0, get a dorito spinner

>Volvo tier
More VW-tier if anything, since Volvo moved to only 4-bangers.
Also has the potential to sound fucking amazing.

own a 5pot volvo, how do I make it sound amazing
Saw some straight piped cars on youtube and this engine doesn't sound that good straight piped

This one sounds pretty awesome to me, basically just less muffled than stock, no need to go full straight pipe.
The non-turbos can be made to sound like a goddamn Group B rally car with the right exhaust as well.

I won't drive any vehicle with less than 8

5 minimum, 6 works too but only if they're in a line, everything above that is just gravy.

Nigga, there have virtually NO 7, 9 or 11-cylinder engines ever been built.

At least 1, but more than 1 might be what you're looking for.

Forget what I wrote. I totally forgot about the motherfucking radial engine

nice, I have a turbo C30, might look into some new exausts for it

should differentiate on engine layouts

Inline 6 can be godly, but most V6 are shit
