What are the worst and/or stupidest features to ever make it to mass production and receive wide distribution? Stuff like ergonomics, options, mechanical components, gimmicks, safety hazards, exterior/interior cosmetic trim, poor quality control, etc, etc.
Also, whole cars if they are based off of some ill conceived premise, were created for a market that didn't exist, were an attempt to fix something that wasn't broken (ie, trying to reinvent the wheel), were short sighted in conception, were a product of rushed development, or were born out of bad decision making on the part of the manufacturer.

I'd have to go with the Edsel. Ford didn't need a 5th brand, especially one that competed against their already established brands.

Edsel wanted a name for himself. And it was the most researched car ever created at the time.

Ummm, Edsel was kinda, you know, dead at the time.

aahahahaha lemon sucker lemon sucker

XUV. Did they really think that people would pay thousands extra for something they might use two or three times while owning the thing? It's a shitty truck because the cargo area is so tiny and it's towing capacity is limited. It's a shitty SUV because when it's in truck mode, the interior panels are exposed to the elements and the windows can be broken by your cargo. Shitty idea all together because if you're hauling something tall, it's cheaper to just rent a truck or fold the seats down lay it sideways, neither of which are more expensive than the cost of the motorized roof.

Seeing as Edsel Ford had been dead for 15 years and Edsel Ford II was 10 years old I doubt either of them had any influence over the project

>Touchscreens all over the damn place instead of buttons

>the interior is exposed to the elements
Have you ever seen one irl
Go watch saabkyle04s review on it

what is that

this shit right here

Rotards BTFO, will they ever recover?

Autotragic econoboxes

This shit looks like something off a digital camera

capacitive touchscreens are tolerable, they can even be good if properly sunshielded or glare protected. Resistive touch controls, either on screens or on a facade to act as buttons are horrible. Pic is near the worst, imo.

Gearshifts are becoming a diluted mess because some cars are stepping into the full electric control phase and every brand HAS to find their own way to bridge the gap between old shit we know and the (potentially good) future of primary drive electric cars.

Worst 'feature' on passenger cars without a doubt in my mind is the thinking that backup cameras and overhead software cameras will eliminate the need for actual visibility from the inside of vehicles.

...

>push to start
>keyless entry
>touch screens
>having all the buttons in place but making them touch screens (wtf cadillac)
>having to disassemble your door handle to get to the mechanical key hole when your battery dies
>daytime running LEDs
>auto high beams/white LED headlights that make it impossible to see turn signals and center lines on the road at night (fuck you lexus in particular)
>"sport mode"
>adjustable steering modes
>anything nurburgring related going into road cars
>aux jack in the glove box
>no trunk release from the outside
>cars like the X6M, X5M, Cayenne, Macan, F-Pace
>Lexus front grill design
>mercedes brake pads that dont cover the entirety of the brake disk so they wear out and overheat
>carbon fiber interior trim, yeah you really saving all that weight on your 6 thousand pound AMG/M/RS?

Oh God! That's Australia isn't it?

i got a push start and it go

life is great with one. also keyless entry ftw open your passenger side it unlocks all doors open your door it only unlocks your door. great for dates :)

Wheelchair access.
Don't know why you use a Hyundai Excel for that, other than you already had one and Gov/Insurer/workers comp is paying for it to be done for you.

pop up headlights
digital dashes

>Battery in trunk
>Trunk can only be opened electronically

Foot actuated e brakes, esp on automatics. A lot of old people buy automatics because they have hip problems and can't comfortably operate the clutch, so they would never buy a car with one of these. And if it's on a manual you can't use the handbrake for driving stuff. Overall pretty stupid and uncomfortable desu, although it doesn't even compare to half of the shit on cars these days.
