So the main thing I would ask you is how mechanically inclined are you? Because you are going to be dealing with carburetors if you go with any of those options...and knowing Craigslist sellers, I am sure that you'll be forced to clean those carbs sooner rather than later.
The main thing I would check for in addition to clean carbs is condition of the tires...you dont want to shell out another $400 for tires+mounting right after dropping money on the bike. You can see in that one SV650 that there is literally a bald flat spot in the rear so that needs to be replaced ASAP.
Maybe try something like this. Just needs very minor electrical work, and it's fuel injected.
You could try just drilling the baffle and see how it is but that's pretty Jewish

Sucks. My hell month is over. Now I have the end of June and July off. I was planning on doing a trip to deadhorse Alaska but that fell through with people backing out and other plans.
