How much do tiers matter in blazblue?

Low tiers are gonna be a "switch character" level struggle against high tiers, mid tiers fair okay.

It's sort of a like B-D tier characters all do pretty okay against each other, then as yo go up the weaker characters get worse and worse matchups against the stronger ones until if you character isn't at least mid you won't be having a good time.

I'm fairly new to the game and have had lots of fun with Valkenhayn, but I feel like I'm at my limit with him at the moment. Any similar characters to try out?

terumi's got a similar rushdown style and is very friendly to novices. same goes for ragna, but he's got some more technical inputs on his advanced combos. litchi is the patrician's rushdown character, but is even harder on the fingers.

Since he's a lot better in CF his execution has gone up, it's most noticeable in character specific stuff where you gotta do lots of really fast microdashes and extremely clean inputs(like in the drive loop, having to do like 4d-8-2d instead of4d-9-2d or 4d-7-2d) and very fast.

I've been experimenting with round start OD and trying to find something that works on all characters, after watching Mitsuru you can get the drive loop start really consistent by doing 22CCC-OD-6B-microdash2c-delay4d-loop but if you do that you gotta do the loop perfectly or your 2d will either put them behind you somehow, or your 4d will whiff after one iteration. Aside from that you really gotta input it quick or OD will run out before the second J.2D meaning you won't get a snake bite ender for the extra meter/damage.

Aside from that there's also the 5c-j.2d combo for extra corner carry/meter on crouching(and some standing) opponents, various microdashes in grabs for 5d-6d loops, all all assortment of other wonderful painful things

there's really no special thing going for CF other than the ability to access branching paths easier than before, with them being unlocked as you progress and able to be revisited later rather than having to save at every decision point. really just a convenience thing though
