Or we could all just enjoy cars regardless of where they're made?

We can only hope that it won't be the SF-R or some 130 hp shitbox.

If it is a 200 hp, ~2700 lbs. 2 seater, then I will be so fucking happy.

We can only hope though.

they will make it fwd like it was supposed to be

>modern vehicles aside from the miata being under 2700 lbs

All they need to do is make a mid-engined GT86 that's not pig ugly. Please don't fuck it up, Toyota.

>Japanese manufacturers
>ever making a decent, cheap, fun sports car ever again
>not bringing out neat concept cars out over and over that will never come to market, and instead releasing 4000lb hybrids
How many times are you going to get fooled OP?

>mid-engined front-wheel-drive
Has this ever actually happened before?

>In 2-3 years Toyota is going to release a new MR2
Says who? Some rumor mill internet blog?

...

Big, if true.

Then GM rereleases the Fiero and makes it actually competitive, so we can have a better repeat of the 80s

youtube.com/watch?v=XCiDuy4mrWU

>GM fangirls still thinking that the fiero was ever on the same playing field as the MR2

Can we not do this? He clearly said "then actually make it competitive". We all know the Fiero was less than fantastic.

...

only reasonable response

>implying toyota will ever release anything fun again for a reasonable price

>only the miata is allowed to be under 2700 lbs
>only mazda has the secrets to make a lightweight car
I'm pretty sure toyota can pull it off with new tech and more r&d and more money than mazda even the mr2 spyder was lighter than the miata

It wasn't because GM was cycles beyond belief. Literally building the engine from blueprints yields a 15HP increase, because the build quality was so trash on the Iron Dukes. Tuned turbo fieros can break 300HP pretty well, it's just the nose aero needs to be turned as well.

But maybe the cycle can be broken, and a true MR American sports car can arrive

>MR2 2020 sport car for the millennials
>120 hp electric car
>120 miles range
>4200 lbs

>only mazda has the secrets to building a light weight car

No but they are the only ones trying Toyota doesnt give a fuck about making anything fun and affordable like mentioned all they care about is cashing in on people with muh MPGs and muh safety standards

*cucked beyond belief. GM did dirty shit to the Camaro, GN and Fiero because they didn't want them stepping on the toes of the golden goose Corvette. They probably still don't, but the bar has been set much higher than before for the new gen's performance, so there's more wiggle room for stuff like the ZL1 1LE.

I hope a new MR2 would be good too

The next corvette is mid engine

>fieros easily reaching 300hp
>heater core leaks
>worn a-rame bushings
>e breaks that dont hold for shit
>cylinder misfiring
>blowing your clutch and sending schrapnel into your legs

sure

Then it's not a Corvette, it's a Fiero and nobody can tell me otherwise.

A Corvette has to be FR V8 (except for the rotary one, but we're not allowed to talk about that)

kill yourself you disgusting boomer

They reach 300HP

Just not for very long. And the people who do it basically rebuild the car because GM manufacturing quality was so garbage. It's as if Michael J Fox did lines of coke before making the welds

Dude I don't even like Corvettes, but you should stick with the theme of the car if your giving it the same name.

>fiero
>clutch shrapnel
>legs
idiot.

The old MR2 Spyder was lighter than the Miata of the same year...

>implying it wont be a 120 hp hybrid fwd crossover

>lotus

*raises wheel*

>.......and it will be a crossover all again

i dont wanna see a modern MR2, the reason they stopped making them was because of regulations the originals couldnt keep up with

whatever comes out today will be shit in comparison. youll be lucky if its

If it stays true to the AW11, i'll bite.

I know a few high ups in Toyota AU. Apparently it won't be mid engine, it will be a shorter FR 86-style thing.

What car is this tho

>MR-2
>won't be mid engine
Right, it's not like the M in MR-2 stands for anything.

Factory Five 818C
It's a kitcar that uses WRX running gear.

Niche production really doesn't count, you'll never see as many 818Cs as even the original Fieros from the 80s on the road today. Some part of the Big 3 has to start making them to establish market share, and then the market will follow

when are they gonna win Le Mans tho?

checkmate weebs

>implying the MR2 was affordable when it was new, regardless of generation.
