I never understood the appeal of Subaru outside of the WRX
With the insane number of AWD crossovers and SUVs available from every car manufacturer why do people want the one car maker who obviously won't spend more than a nickel refreshing their cars when a new model comes out? I have seen a few independent auto shops that specialize in selling and repairing only Subarus and charging hilariously high prices for 5+ year old cars with 100k + miles on it. Toyota and Honda don't even come close to the rice tax people are willing to pay on Subarus.

Subaru defender here. 1. They know they have an aesthetics problem and are actively working on that (new impreza is light years ahead of anything Subaru has ever done) and 2. Outside of TRUE Quattro (not the haldex and even then Quattro is literally 100 times,heavier ) Subaru has the best awd system in cars,today.

As far as their value though they are waaaaayyy overpriced on the used market

In the Panther's case, it's probably because they had nearly the exact same interior for over a decade, and all the interior shit was designed around the Crown Vic and Grand Marquis. They had to make the Town Car look different because LUXURY, but it's still the same car underneath and doing shit like breaking up the horizontal trim of the dashboard to add a big stupid center console with an analog clock instead of keeping the separate radio and HVAC does zero favors for the interior of such a wide, flat car.
