If you plug in your controller and do just fine its because you are playing against shitters. KB+M is jsut too precise for controllers to compete.

Tips? Genuinely wanted to love the Memestiff but always had a hard time using it.

Mastiff was the weakest gun in the game, majorly in part because its close-range inconsistency held it back dramatically. These new buffs - improved crosshair and projectiles expand much sooner - addresses exactly this issue.

The gun is shit at anything but close range. A close range shot is almost always a one shit. Medium range is usually 2. Anything beyond that is worthless.
Don't bring an anti-titan weapon. Instead bring a pistol with some range like the Wingman Elite or the P2016.
I use gravity star because fuck other people's fun
The gun has virtually no vertical spread. That means if you aim for the feet it will only hit feet and you're fucked. It does have exceptional horizontal spread though.

G53.0 with Mastiff here, you're wrong
Mastiff is effective enough at medium range, and closing long-range distances is fast enough, that you'll be perfectly fine with Mastiff for taking down pilots
Plus, dat sweet charge rifle is good for gibbing campers and MLG goosing
