100k a year, 30k in tax. 70k takehome. Homes are 1 million. Property tax, Cap and trade tax, Most expensive electricity in north america.
It's honestly better to be a teacher somewhere else. You'll make less money but you pay way less tax and that big house is only 250k.

I learned this after working hard and becoming successful. I could further my career by devoting 3 to 5 years to studying, but then I do the math and figure out that the government takes 50% of that effort. So fuck that.

There's no reason to make more than 80k in Ontario, unless you live in the cancer that is Toronto.

80k you pay about 17k in tax, 100k you pay 25k in tax, 150k you pay 47k, 200k you pay 71k tax.

so
80k = 63k
100k = 75k
150k = 103k
200k = 129k

It's a system of diminishing returns, the harder you work the more you are punished. No reason to make more than 80k.
