Why do mechanics always overfill when it comes to fluids?

Why do mechanics always overfill when it comes to fluids?

I always overfill your mother with my fluids.

Go to a different one that's less shit then, I always make sure it's right on the line.

Good guy mechanic. Too bad all the mechanics in my area (SoCal) are minorities.

Rather them overfill than underfill.

Just end your fucking life now

Believe me. I want to move badly.

Because most of my customers are morons and go 3000 km over the sticker without checking the oil level. So yeah I'll risk some minor catalytic contamination over the long run to prevent undue engine wear.

Because your car holds 4.8 quarts of oil and you cant buy oil in those amounts.

I enjoy this board, it brings me back to high school

Most 5qt jugs typically have a hair less than 5 quarts anyway. For example, nissan shitboxes with a 2.5 take 4.9 and a 5qt fills it right to the dot. Usually have to get a 1 quart for just a couple ounces out of it if it's something that takes 5 exactly.

>one of the first times I did an oil change on a dry sump car
>put in too much at first (have to pour in 8 quarts, start it up, slowly add another 6, I put in 10 quarts in the first bit)
>unbeknownst to me the level was high enough to pour oil out of the breather in the tank and start dripping onto the air filter
>drive car, all good, check level, no issue
>go to move it out of the shop a few hours later, customer coming to pick it up
>huge smoke cloud everywhere, can't even breathe in the cabin
>foreman realizes what happened since it's a common mistake
>swap out filters
>only way to clear it out is to drive it
>drive around the block for 20 minutes wringing it out at 7k RPM blasting smoke everywhere
>praying nobody takes a pic of the car and posts it on the internet
>finally stops smoking, pull up right as customer arrives

993?

Mine takes 3.4 quarts.

You mean they have exactly 5qts and when you pour it out some gets left over

That's even when I put the bottle upside down on the funnel and let it sit for a few minutes.

No 430 Scuderia

Because you fuckers never fix your oil leaks and wonder why you run out of oil before the next service.

or it's a subaru

>subaru
I don't understand how they think having a 12.5k km service interval on an engine that takes 0w20 and burns it like crazy is okay.

I really don't.

Most people on here are still in high school.

Congrats, I'm putting 4 in it.

because it gets you to buy a new one when you break the old one
