It's incredibly easy to extend your dungeon visits. Basically you just have to calculate how to most efficiently use SP. Usually it's more efficient to end a fight in one turn through spamming physical attacks and healing afterward then it is to use SP on weaknesses.

It's canon, according to Soejima's commentary in the Official Design Works book. The second user's wrong on the design being about having to associate with the PT while trying to get rid of them, though - all that's confirmed is that it's supposed to give the image of not letting people close.

The mask does incorporate tengu imagery too. It's not based on any rusing, though, just the old "nose held high like a tengu" idiom (referring to someone being as proud as a tengu).
