subaru

The COG is a meme because of the exhaust headers and wet sump. The WRX I drove felt very unbalanced at idle. I don't know if it was just that specific WRX.

Awful to work on and takes up lots of space for no real measurable advantage

This, they put the engine on the front subframe so they can drop the whole engine to work on it.

>redpill me on x

No. Fuck you. Google it. Read up on the basic principles and how it differs from other engines.
Read and make your own understanding of how it works, and what pros and cons it has.
See some unknown term or part you haven't a clue what it's for? Google that one too.
Then you can come here and start a thread. Preferably something better than "please spoonfeed my lazy ass".

Wanna be "unique"? Enjoy paying other people to do your own work? Do you like vaping and flat brimmed hats? Is anyone who disagrees with you or challenges your views a "hater"? Then it's the choice for you.

Get a load of this fag

>wet sump
Lol Subarus

inb4 porsche rear H6

Well there is plenty of room to work on a 911 engine

Hard to work on is also a Meme.

Subaru engines are easy to work on, don't listen to these morons.

the fuck are you talking about, I've worked on them and it's fucking shitty as all hell.

The only thing you work on is a dog's asshole

And cars, trucks, motorcycles, side by sides, boats, or pretty much anything

HOLY FUCK

DOGFUCKER BTFO

Except for the part where he's wrong about subarus being easy to work on lol

Made me laugh

Let us know what is hard to work on in a Subaru?

or you're just incompetant.

>except for the part where I actually fuck dogs

there, fixed it

how sad

B-B-B-BTFO

Or engines just shouldn't be laying flat inside an engine?
Changing a simple O2 sensor for one, I had to cut a wrench in half and weld it back together to get it down into the bottom of the engine bay to get the sensor out, you can't get at it from under the car and getting at it from above requires that you make or buy a special tool.
Also, valve cover and head gaskets lol

>i know more than porsche's engineers because i only understand LSX engines

>implying the opinion of wrenchmonkeys matter

you do understand engineers do not care about you right?

What the actual fuck are you even saying?
I've rebuilt more engines than you've ever touched lol

Especially subaru engineers lol holy shit they are bad

What turbo car isn't a cunt to work on? They have a fuck ton of more stuff packed into the engine bay.

Try O2 on NA Subaru, easy as fuck, can access from top or bottom of the car.

Also, wrench on an O2 sensor? Are you dumb?

Don't need need to jack up the car to do it on NA model... it's right by the front right drive axle, unplug the sensor, and use long extension to remove it.

So it was hard because you didn't have the right tool? I'm not surprised.

It wasn't even turbo, it was NA lol
Yeah good luck getting that socket in there, you'd have to pull the entire exhaust system off to use something like that on the O2 sensor.
You obviously aren't working on the same car that I was.
BTW I own one of those sockets already, so stay btfo

Fucking Savage

yes let's have every single part on the car need a special tool, that way you have to run to the dealer every 10 minutes to buy a 100-300 dollar tool to remove an O2 sensor or a motor mount or something.
Sounds great dude.

Pros:
Low centre of gravity
Only slightly longer than a transversely mounted inline engine, putting the centre of mass closer to the axle
Allows for symmetrical AWD systems
Bretty gud balance, allowing a lighter rotating assembly, therefore more rev happy
Sounds nice

>Cons
Wide as fuck, arguably less efficient packaging than a V4 or VR4 (yes, Lancia made VR4 engines)
Ballache to work on due to tight packaging. Cylinder head components are the main problem.
Double the amount of heads compared to an I4

>lol

>Only slightly longer than a transversely mounted inline engine
Why is that a pro?
That's not a pro lol
>Allows for symmetrical AWD systems
So does an I4, just nobody seems to want to put them in the right direction.

The exhaust drops off with 6 bolts, and 4 rubber hangers, doesn't seem like a big deal to me, especially if you have it on a hoist already.

You're like CNN and trump lol
>HE GOT TWO SCOOPS OF ICE CREAM REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

The headers not the catback

I meant it to be a pro compared to a symmetrical AWD system with a longitudinal I4 or longer engines (Audi)

Entire exhaust on NA model comes off like that.

You'd probably have more money for parts if you weren't buying condoms to use on fido every night.

hahahhhhahahahahahahh

>rubber hangers
>on headers
No.

>implying I would EVER use a condom EVER
barebacking is life

>it's another "the furfaggot sprgs out of control" episode

If people weren't so dumb this wouldn't ever happen, it's unfortunate

>the entire exhaust
lrn2read fucking caninophile.

>entire exhaust
>as in not just the headers

You're a retard.

6 bolts on the exhaust flanges bolting to the block.

4 rubber hangers, 2 infront of muffler, 2 on muffler.

Of course they're not on the headers, do you even know what a car is?

>spins out of control at 5mph
>calls anyone dumb

holy shit the furfag is getting buttblasted all over this thread

>bolting to block
>headers bolt to the head
>he says do you even know what a car is

Why did you ignore this post?

Ok. That doesn't make you any less wrong.

It was too late to fix it once I noticed.

At least I'm not the one fucking dogs.

faggot

lol all these (you)s holy shit
On top of that, the dude here who thinks he's a subaru expert doesn't even know what fucking car I was working on and he thinks he knows it like the back of his paw or some shit.
Priceless how asspained you are lmfao

MUM GET THE CAMERA

>I was only pretending to be retarded

>Implying you even work on cars...

Hot Wheels has you hanging their cars on the hooks at Walmart?

>headers bolt to the block

Yeah, I don't work on cars lol, only done a hand full of engine swaps and a couple dozen rebuilds

Exhaust manifolds bolt to the heads.

>Implying Subaru has headers on it.

lol look at this assblasted dude right here
>i-i got you!

That's a Fox dude, I thought you only butt blasted dogs?

>d-dogfucker! (sniffles)

not him but this isnt the first time you come off as a pretentious faggot here

It's what I do best.

I still don't know why this guy is crying about Subaru being hard to work on.

Because he's an incompetent furry shitposter who's never worked on a car in his life.

>inb4 another photo of his neighbours car or whatever and the obligatory "stay mad lol"

Because the fucking engine is laying flat out lmao
>guys lets make it so the engine has 2 head gaskets instead of one and lets make it so you can't do anything at all to them without pulling the motor
>i bet people will defend this retardation too!

Hahha

Subaru tranny is even easy to work on internally.

youtube.com/watch?v=yakX-GAV9uE

Yeah OK.

>you can't do anything at all to them without pulling the motor

I own a Subaru and this is 100% false.

>you haven't worked on anything, it's all an elaborate ruse!
This is beyond meltdown, this is just schizophrenia or some shit lol

>his glass trans blew up
lol figures

its way faster because since its sideways it dont got gravity fighting it

280k KM on it.

Nothing blew up, a bearing quit.

Was repaired before it caused any damage.

$50 parts and a few hours labour.

Bearing died because nobody ever changed the oil in the tranny.

...

funny my honda trans lasted like 500k km on the original trans fluid and that car is known to has shit glass trans, sad
I'm thinking the fluid wasn't the cause

>goes 500k kms without changing tranny fluid
>claims he knows shit about cars
What the actual fuck are you diagnosed with?

You put lots of effort into teling him to fuck off. You could have red pulled him in half the time.

I bought the car like that
Tell me why you put 280km on your gearbox without changing your oil? ;)

I like how Mrcummy is Alphonse tier shitposter that actually works on his cars, I'll give credit where it's due he's not as dumb ad angry spergs make him to be

They have to be easy to work on. WRX daily piston changes need to be quick or the vape market would crash.

I'm pretty sure I can go 280km without filling up on gas

Because it was lady driven... aka, no maintenance done to it.

This.

They'll care when their car breaks.

i ment the tripfag seems like a total douchebag, not you

Oh, Haha.

You know what's hard to work on? Chevy Astro van...

I thought Honda manuals required regular fluid changes.

He just doesn't know its the third trans in the car.

Meh

My shitbox Astra has over 400k kms on it, I only started topping up the box oil because it started leaking. I guess this counts as a fluid change.

It's an auto, 2000 accord

All transmissions require regular fluid changes

Most manual transmissions don`t have it as a maintenance item, its supposed to last the lifetime of the car, whatever that is. They dont usually even have a drain hole.

...

>500,000km without a trans fluid change

Lots of companies are doing this now, transmissions, auto or manual, have no way to check fluid level or add fluid.
They have stickers right on it saying "fluid to last lifetime of car"

Shut the fuck up furfag, stop talking out of your ass. They're not nearly as hard to work on as everyone parroting the same meme over and over seems to think. Try actually doing it for a change, everything I've done to mine was piss easy.

And yet people still change them out because they aren't retards

Porsches have lifetime coolant but people still flush the system every few years, otherwise this'll happen

It's shit
