Will there be a Second American Civil War? When will it happen and why?

History & """""""""""""""humanities""""""""""""""""

Understand that the American Civil War was 100 years coming. When you can name another divide in policy as polarizing as the expansion of slavery, you'll have your answer.

Not him but the US seems to be quite divided regardless of issue. The issues of immigration and how much socialism (because let's face it, every country implements a large amount of socialism these days) is desirable seem to have the country split down the good old north/south lines. If this keeps building up and both sides keep getting more radical (Bernie vs Trump, anyone?) then we could see some interesting tension in American society.

No

Now go back and watch your Honey Boo boo while trying to fit an entire pig into your mouth, fatty.

yes

But Americans of today are too rich to risk all that accumulated wealth on some civil war that they might not win.

Do you really think that factors into ideological conflict?

Hi there!

You seem to have made a bit of a mistake in your post. Luckily, the users of Veeky Forums are always willing to help you clear this problem right up! You appear to have used a tripcode when posting, but your identity has nothing at all to do with the conversation! Whoops! You should always remember to stop using your tripcode when the thread it was used for is gone, unless another one is started! Posting with a tripcode when it isn't necessary is poor form. You should always try to post anonymously, unless your identity is absolutely vital to the post that you're making!

Yes, greatly. I could postpone any pulsing issue with enough food, luxury items, housing, less well off outsiders to be compared to.

And immigration? Socialism? Those aren't issues to fight over until you're spending monopoly money and president Juan Jimenez gets sworn into office as all non-Mexican Americans find themselves losing jobs to his cousins and being told to speak Spanish.

Based President Juan Jimenez.

Realistically? No. Civil strife is already a thing and is certainly going to get worse in the near future, but nowhere near civil war. The US is ideologically opposed to intrastate violence so I can't foresee anything bigger than rioting. In the event I'm incorrect, the American left will lose and lose badly. The American right controls the guns, the military, the food, the water, and electricity. The left is generally confined to urban areas. There is absolutely no situation where they win.

You're assuming a logic of rationality. Most people are not rational.

Two possibilities

1. US economy collapses. Really the main reason why large countries like the US exist is because the people feel its more beneficial to be in them.

2. States with large number of Mexicans decide to separate. Its never historically been a great idea to have massive waves of immigrants with no emphasis on assimilation (thanks modern glorification of "multiculturalism") especially when their home country is next door.

Socialism is worker control of industry, user. Not the government opening hospitals or whatever.

When the black man realizes they don't have to be slaves forever.

But whenever Socialism has been attempted it turns into the government micromanaging peoples lives so as to profit the wealthy and powerful.

>b-b-but m-marx s-said

Irrelevant. This is what has happened in every socialist nation and more importantly is what every advocate of socialism advocates. Specifically this is what socialists in the United States advocate making whatever hypothetical utopia you can imagine irrelevant to the discussion.

You're also ignoring the fact that America has no "left" at all. It does however have a very strong tradition of "Progressivism". That is, wealthy corporate and financial leaders using the media to tug bend popular """"""consent""""" in a manner that benefits them. The Progressives cannibalized what they liked from the European leftists and left the rest to blow away in the wind.

So yes, in the American context, he's absolutely right that the amount of socialism is a dividing issue, especially as the people who want socialism aren't going to be paying for it and those who don't want it would be the ones who would pay for it.

where have I seen this before...

dam really make you think

You're thinking of socialism democracy, user

race war

This is the friendliest post I've ever read on Veeky Forums. What is this magical place far away from the Iq and 300k starting threads of /sci?

No. Americans are too complacent and love authority too much. We're divided but people want to be oppressed too much thanks to brainwashing.

Whites aren't racist enough

>The left is generally confined to urban areas.
You act like those aren't the places with all the wealth, industry, technology, and endless reserves of manpower

>This is the friendliest post I've ever read on Veeky Forums
In the two whole weeks you've been here?

>all the wealth, industry, technology, and endless reserves of manpower
Which means jackshit without electricity, food, or water, let alone the means to defend it. It's literally going to be siege after siege.

Ridiculous.

>electricity
Plenty of power plants in places with strong union presence, and liberal places like Massacheusetts and Oregon are well ahead of the curve on things like solar panel implementation, and this advantage is only going to get more pronounced as time goes on and the cost of sustainables continues to plummet.
>food
most American farms are running far below capacity and are dependent on government subsidies to survive and keep prices at commercially sustainable levels. An emergency would simply necessitate a massive explosion in food production.

And how are those redneck farms going to stay afloat when they can no longer use their bank accounts and nobody has any money to buy their crops?

>water
What are the rednecks going to do? Poison the waterin' hole? The Union didn't run out of water in its confrontation with the Confederates.

>. It's literally going to be siege after siege.
No, it would be a war of attrition and in these kinds of wars victory goes to the larger, more robust economies, the one which can bounce back more easily from successive losses and can rapidly replace battlefield losses.

>with strong union presence
You're confusing the fact that unions are pro-democrat with the reality that most union workers are not. I can count the liberal electricians I've met on one hand and I'm an electrician.

>nd how are those redneck farms going to stay afloat when they can no longer use their bank accounts and nobody has any money to buy their crops?
How are the cities going to maintain food production?

>What are the rednecks going to do?
Do what plumbers, another group that is conservative on average, do. Turn off the tap.

> which can bounce back more easily from successive losses and can rapidly replace battlefield losses
Yeah, well, you can't dish out losses if you don't have any fucking firearms.

>You're confusing the fact that unions are pro-democrat with the reality that most union workers are not. I can count the liberal electricians I've met on one hand and I'm an electrician.
You seem to think that all blue collar workers are Republicans just because all the ones you personally associate with are

>How are the cities going to maintain food production?
Do you really think that huge commercial farms are going to side with the rednecks over the government status quo?

And how do you think farmers are going to survive when nobody has any money to buy their crops and they no longer have access to replacement parts for their combines?

>Do what plumbers, another group that is conservative on average, do. Turn off the tap.
Again, you just assume that every blue collar worker is going to rise up at once without any need for direction from a central authority. This is pure fantasy

>Yeah, well, you can't dish out losses if you don't have any fucking firearms.
And when you run out of bullets, your collection of firearms becomes a collection of fancy sticks
