Im thinking old cb500 or 550 four or suzuki gs400 cafe bike.

I'm unsure of what bike for lams though...
probably just a cbr250.

How old of a CB 500 are you talking about? The Four or the twin? Twin a gud for beginners.

four

1st for SRC 950
Old school majesty

Why though?

Looks.

This is quite nice.
I wouldn't cafe racer a modern bike though.

If I had that I would just change the pipes, and repaint the gas tank.

That bike actually looks bretty good.

Posting the best standard bike ever made, no actually the best motorcycle ever made.

>dad wants to testride a KTM 1050 Adventure
>I come with mostly to ride a bit, not really interested in KTM's tbqh.
>Wander the dealership, nothing really grabs my eye
>Go to the clerk "Hey do you have a 1290R I could maybe testride as well?" more as a joke than anything
>I am 25, been riding my SV for a year. I fully expect him to tell me to fuck off especially since I didn't have an appointment or anything
>"Sure I'll get the keys"
>wutface.jpg
>Sudden minor bowel movement as I am now becoming aware that this may be a very expensive day as I mount the 177hp motorcycle that everyone calls "The Beast" (2.0)
>Pretty comfortable seat, good riding position and it actually fits my 187cm frame very very well
>Fire it up, a low rumble from the akrapovic greets me
>sweatypalms engage
>Get in first, slowly engage the clutch
>I'm gonna fuck this up for sure
>I don't, it's smooth as butter.
>I go, very little throttle but it handles most gears well at nearly every speed
>insanely smooth engine breaking
>nearly telepathic throttle response
>very nimble for its 190 rear
>"why is this called the beast, this rides just like my SV only better"
>hit the throttle to overtake in 3rd gear
>Oh.
>Never done a wheelie in my life, suddenly popped cherry still doesn't panic me because this bike just infuses me with confidence

Honestly, I did not care much for the brand, the design or the "aura" around it.
People call it "the beast" everywhere like it's gonna murder your whole extended family if you look at it funny.
But my god this thing is perfection. You could give this to a careful beginner to be honest. The only thing that was bad about it was the display but I did not really give a flying fuck.

now I have to find some way to get 12k, until then
>tfwno1290r

I dunno maybe my opinion will change as I learn more about bikes but I kind of think a cafe racer should only be made from an old bike or at least an imitation old bike.

Taking something modern and fucking up it's performance to look vintage is retarded.

An old bike with a few old fashioned mods that suit it's era is okay.

Grom is love
Grom is life

We need more attention grabbing OP pictures in the bike threads.

see what you mean. i was a bit underwhelmed after my testride but stil bought a used one. do not regret it one bit. it does everything and so well.

All we'll ever need

I hate cafe racers

Like seriously I hate them... I hate seeing hipster punks buying up old classics and cutting them up to please their own pathetic quest for uniqueness. Speaking of which, you'd be more unique riding something that is NOT a cafe racer nowadays.

Looking through bikes for sale, 30 % of them are some ugly ass cafe racer, brat style, scrambler or whatever offshoot. Most of them looking generic and with shitty craftsmanship.
Oh and then they think they can charge you through the nose for them....
And then there is the 10 % which are cafe racers made by OilWrenchGasDogsHandsGreaseMonkey-whatever garage startup. Usually better quality, but still bland and generic as fuck....

And the remaining 60% classics have gone up in price considerably.

And lastly, its now gotten SO bad that all bike companies are putting out bobber, cafe racer, scrambler or whatever variants... So now the hipster bitches dont even have to get their hands dirty to look unique...

It makes me sick

I wanna see bone-stock comfy boat touring bike races.

That actually sounds interesting. I support it

why you heff to be mad
it's just bikes

I can't get more than two rides out of my bike without needing to repair something.

Dying in neutral. Backfiring. Overheating. Electrical circuit becoming defunct (e.g. blinker goes out). I cant trust my bike to leave city limits.

Dealer says the they cant see much wrong with the engine.

What do? I want to travel but cant put even a speck of trust on my bike...

sell your dukey

+1 make it happen

>falling for the euro meme

better than a bobber.

I know what you mean, user.

Ducati isn't even owned by Harley Davidson (yet) and still they're making shit like the Scrambler and X Diavel, and we both know the type of people that they were meant for.

We live in dark times.

Tfw you'll never own one because you live in California

If you didn't cut them up then the stock ones wouldn't be as unique.

By making stock ones less gay we are helping the wah wah wah they made an old bike better than stock babies feel like special snow flakes.

I don't see the problem. By destroying stock ones you are making the others worth more.

Forgot picture.

The only guy I know with an Xdiavel is an old black guy. Pretty cool guy

>Bikes look too generic
>They'd be unique if they were all stock

this is a cafe racer
its fine. i just hate bobbers

Not that user, but I don't think 'generic' is quite the word. Instead I'd say that they're too artifcial.

I am thinking cb500 cafe racer is the bike I want to build.
Just don't know enough about bikes to be sure yet.

where and when is SEM ?
I have bike that I cant fucking ride because i only have A2 license.

This would be a good project if it was running or being sold at a reasonable price.

You wouldn't be ruining an original bike for a cafe racer.

gumtree.com.au/s-ad/coorparoo/motorcycles/honda-cb-500-550/1154678708

why a cb? why not a RD250

Actually is orange

ebay.com.au/itm/Honda-CB500T-/142444901013?hash=item212a60b295:g:SqEAAOSwfVpYomn6&rmvSB=true

Would you be able to cafe racer this and turn it back to stock?

>RD250
can old 250s keep up with modern traffic?

I think cbs are good looking bikes that don't take much to make a good cafe racer.

Some cafe racers are just ugly and half assed and that's not what I want.

>You could give this to a careful beginner to be honest

As every bike, my first bike was a 2006 R1...
But yeah, the 1290R is a great bike :)

they will because they are a ton lighter. also this is one

youtube.com/watch?v=Wc5pngXIQOQ
>Reddit rides motorcycles

I used to think like you, like, 100% like you but now, honestly, it's starting to get me... i'm looking more at bikes like the nine T, thruxton R and Norton...

Never test rode one tho...

They handle like shit, have horrid brakes and have spaghetti frames, idk if you would want to keep up to traffic on one.

>tfw lumpy oil

that seems to be bits of metal.

thats why you can feel guilt free about upgrading them to a cafe racer.
sounds like a win win. you get that nice smell and good engine and a upgraded chassis and suspension

don't tell me those are shaving

you are correct, heres a bit of bearing jammed into the casing

wrong.

I have spoken to people who own them about how they handle and the general consensus was not as well as modern sport bikes but still pretty good.

Many claimed to own newer sport bikes as well as their cafe bikes.

>Be reasonable
>Give up on life, buy a liter

Tough choice

what if i did?

either way, it shows more potential than a cb

this is a blue board user, stop posting gore

Maybe when I learn more about bikes I will stop liking cafe racers bu until I discover a bike that handles at least as well as a cafe racer while also being creative to build like a bobber or cafe then cafes are my favourite style of bike.

B-

See me after class.

but i havent even posted the murder weapon yet

What a bunch of attention whores.

your bottom end bearing shattered?

how about this one

It was a suzuki?

Name another kind of bike that is

creative like a bobber

but

handles at least as well as a 70's sports bike or modern standard.

Because that's what I want.

sort of

no

So this isn't a cafe racer?

Don't like the look, but it looks like it's so nice to do maintenance on. Plenty of space.
Although I can't judge how much is blocked off by other stuff.

Streetfighter

>handles at least as well as a 70's sports bike or modern standard.
On a scale going from one to harley, how much do you like speed wobbles?

did SAM happen ?

I don't like that kind of look.

I'd rather just have a stock looking cbr.

>queefs on f800s

Of course not.
>Implying that SAM could happen in any reality.

it is now, but stock it was a standard

>adv bikes in general

le thicc meme of the bike world

they're probably all recovering from prolapsed assholes

...

Okay, so it's not what you want.

You want to scoot around on something all the other kids think is cool. Go get a used ducati monster. Put aisde $1000 every two years for maintenance or set aside that much for a one-time tool shopping spree

This is a long shot, but does anyone have a givi topcase?

Just curious, some topcases seem to wobble back and forth quite a lot. I've been looking at the mounting plates and it appears that there's only two bolts in the center of the plate supporting the box. What's to stop it pitching forward and back?

Basically I want the customised datsun 510 of the bike world.

To me that seems like a cafe racer.

figured

all motorcycle luggage is overpriced trash these days, basically. things like givi trunk carriers are poorly made.

pay a welder $500 and a pile of stainless steel to make you a trunk, two panniers, and a rack. enjoy life with your solidly mounted, waterproof, durable luggage system that doubles as support for soft bags. hell, it could even be some quick release shit. but with padlocks, any more complicated and you're vomiting cash into the man's lap.

then this is the bmw 2002? wtf its a bike bro

I like this bike.

What kind is it?

it said right on the engine case.
but its a cafe racer now.

This one looked better before.

Other bikes like the honda cb look better after.

Your mum looked better before she gave birth to you.

rekt

Of course she did. That was almost 30 years ago.

guzzi?
anyone have an opinion?

pure sex

Honda a good.
Yamaha a good.
Kawasaki a good.
Suzuki a good.
Anyone who says otherwise is delusional

What about BMW?

the bmws i have ridden have felt somewhat refined too much. if you ride a ducati or aprilia first you notice it.
the k75 felt like it had an electric motor even.

28-30th, Pfunds.

Ducati a best.

eh they are all different.

Hond a good.
Yamaha a ugly.
Kawasaki a fast.
Suzuki basically honda but not taxed by reliability memes. Thanks to all the squids and their hour long willies for creating a myth around suzuki's not lasting very long.

Sorry, user, but the Panigale's chassis/construction effects my benis.

>Ducati a best.

not the best but they are unique and different from their jap counterparts.

Remarkably.

what is a failure? engine blows up? those all seem too high

Yeah, all that soul, all that character, all that design language directly lifted off honda's GP bikes.

I heard they were going full honda and planning V4s to go with their shiny new twin spar frames.

>Ducati VFR1199 Panafat

In-warranty problem that was honored by the dealer and not disregarded as operator inflicted

Most are assembly issues which is why you see more failures in brands that use more hand assembly
Some are bad batches of aprts
Fewer are design flaws like shitty shunt R/Rs frying the whole bike (so the dealer can put a new shunt R/R in)

They're good too but those four are compared very often.

Yamaha's are good too mate.

This is not your blog
fuck off
You know who you are
