I'm starting to like mercedes a little more, bmw is still the king of based straight sixes though
Old news.
Some more V6 BTFO for ya. this guy should've made the new GT.
v6 were never not btfo.
no need for this thread.
New news for me.
AND FUCK YES, CARS AND TRUCKS NEED TO GO BACK TO I6s, ESPECIALLY FORD!
They had based I6 in their old ass trucks and can go through hell and still make it out.
it wasn't for me, that's why I posted it
the new i6 mercs haven't made it here yet
agreed
I gotta say the 48V hybrid trend bothers me a bit though. Imagine having an electric malfunction and having the whole engine shit the bed because the water pump is electric. It also places even more complications for the guy who can't depend on dealerships because he lives in a remote location or a guy who just wants to work on his car himself.
Red Bull is so based. This is what Horner had to say about F1 V6s:

I'm glad it was news for someone else than myself lol.

Yup, I feel like bmw and merc need to stay on the right track and stick to the types of cars/engines that made them so famous. It's cool that they like to experiment but hybrid cars are best left to the asians imo, buying a german hybrid is basically like buying a prototype.
I meant the 48V hybrid tech as a whole. I wouldn't buy one from the Asians either.
Yea sure but how long, if ever, will it take for others to follow suit?
And how long, if ever, will it take for it to show up in an affordable sports car?
define affordable
also it's not like sports cars are the only cars that matter
Still ass mad that Mercedes doesn't use hydraulic tappets.
>for the guy who can't depend on dealerships because he lives in a remote location or a guy who just wants to work on his car himself.
Well at the same time you have to remember that cars these days are built for normies and people who can afford to pay someone to wrok on their cars. Personally I believe that cars maintained by the owner is rapidly coming to an end.
As someone who's first car was built in 1975, I really enjoy having a large engine bay. I used to think a big engine bay was a waste, but in reality it's really quite useful. Whether this has anything to do with the engineers not having access to FEM and FEA, I do not know, but it's useful.
Never even considering the Shit8, my man.
>solid mounting instead of isolating the vibrations of a hopelessly imbalanced engine like it's usually done nowadays
based
Nice break from crying prez/o/
Nice obsession
The reason they switched to I6's was because they started to produce to little V8's and too many inline 4's though. It's a matter of economy of scale.
>Manufacturer who's lineup is roughly 80% RWD "luxury" switches back to I6
What's a surprise! V6 is only good for FWD shitboxes with delusions of class, not actual quality cars
so they did the right thing for the wrong reasons
I'm okay with that
>What's a surprise! V6 is only good for FWD shitboxes with delusions of class, not actual quality cars
>this triggers the Audi fangirl
Which explains why Audi is even going so far as dropping the old 4.2 V8 for a twin turbo V6
Audi BTFO
Well yeah, sticking an inline 6 ahead of the front axle wouldn't exactly be good for weight distribution.
youtube.com
Yeah, a V6 is totally better in terms of understeer
Well, it's not like they give a fuck
youtube.com
Audi is a fucking meme
This is on the """"sports"""" version too, not some badgewhore bait base model
>implying RWD and oversteer is much better
Stay BTFO, VAG fangirl
Audi is nothing but a marketing scam that only badgewhores fall for
ayyy are you the author of that pic? lel
I'm the memeball author lol
>implying it wasn't the autistic petfucker's fault
Sounds like you knew I'm fond of Alfa :^)
>V6
Just showing the power of not having a completely retarded drivetrain layout
this deserves wah wah wah sound superimposed on it when audi crashes
>i6 instead of V6
>Twin Turbo V8s
If it wasn't for all the fuckery Mercedes does with their low-end models, they would be my favorite.
>implying V6s can't be good sometimes
Don't get me wrong, I wish it was an I6, but that thing is like listening to a siren sing. Alfa has always made godly V6s, and this time Ferrari designed it. FFS, an user here had to go to the cardiologist because the excitement of hearing it gave him tachycardia.
youtube.com
why are you posting that video as if its to say v6 cars/engines have bad understeer?
its fairly obvious the car understeered because of the speed/weather coming into the turn
To show having an engine all the way out in front of the front axle is a stupid engineering decision, which Audi only does so they can easily make FWD and """"AWD"""" versions of their cars
Not even a V6 with its better packaging compared to an I6 can save Audis from being pigfat, nose-heavy understeer machines
so you posted a video understeering as a fault of the driver to make fun of audi ?
Yes, that's what happens when you try to push an Audi beyond its (very low) limits
It understeers right off the track and into a wall, nothing you can do about it
>as a fault of the driver
top kek
the Alfa had no issues
from what I read in the comments that was an Audi test driver but it could be bogus
check the original video im responding to
not the one with the suv
youtube.com
this cant be quattro, it did not even try to help, it's just a brick
nobody said anything about a quattro with that video
why do you say "and """"AWD"""" versions of their cars" when audi has one of the if not the best awd system currently
im fairly suprised i knew about benchracers but not benchengineers
my bad
still that's fucking sad, the thing didn't even begin to steer
props to it for barely getting dented at all though, I'd have expected a lot worse
>audi has one of the if not the best awd system currently
4Matic > quattro
mbworld.org
mbworld.org
>fwd-based AWD
lmao
Audi crams the whole AWD system in the front because they don't believe in having center diffs and then these videos happen
its a fwd car so it did not exactly have any way to correct itself when the driver set the car up for a massive understeer situation
beat me to it, based
Ummm, that's quattro sweetie, 6:09. It didn't need to be towed out of the gravel trap.
youtube.com
Also inline-6 porn at 10:43
Funny how every single Audi in that video comes in with a huge amount of steering angle and all of them still push out wide
Meanwhile the BMWs and Mercs look much more balanced with a fair few slightly kicking the tail out on the exit
well, they don't call it audisteer for nothing :^)
POST RB26
Kek
AHAHAHAHA, Audi fangirls on suicide watch
And your problem is?
Literally why. Do they know that only soccermoms buy that shit and don't care?
Probably, they know badgewhores will buy anything with four rings on it, no matter how shit it actually is
youtube.com
>V6
>not Busso
>1996 155 V6 Ti
>Busso V6
Pick one. The Ti version used the 90ยบ PRV V6, meaning it's a french engine with italian heads.
>how will they ever recover?
Probably by waiting until Mercedes head warping becomes a meme.
>red bull racing
>based
The only reason they said that is because there power unit manufacturer can barely compete.
God-tier based af I6, bow to your perfectly balanced overlords.
Don't believe me? Name one reputable semi truck manufacturer that uses a V6, go ahead I'll wait.
Does mercedes count? They built the 12 liter V6 diesel actros for a while.
They did years ago, and I believe Detroit did in the 70's but no one nowadays uses them, everything is straight six. I have a DD15 and it's designed for 1 million miles without an inframe
Nice projection. Stay obsessed and anally destroyed.
detroit v6 were fucking godlike
318ci
listen to the fucker
sounds like a race car.
youtube.com
listen to it purr
that instant throttle response too
Yeah, that must be why the former chief aero engineer from Red Bull decided to put a V12 in the Aston he designed
I'm not even Prez/o/ lol, you're definitely obsessed.
Keep projecting.
>projecting
>deflecting
>2 Ford duratec v6's attached at the crank
V12s are irrelevant because they can't fit behind axles.
Lol, so obsessed.
This i6 will come with a electric turbo, can't wait to see how much turbo lag time it will reduce
>if I keep saying it it'll become true!
Stay obsessed with your loose asshole.
...
Neato
now all we need is bigger displacement i6's
i6/v8 master race!
>a guy who just wants to work on his car
It'd just be like the guys who only work on carburetors who consider fuel injection to be too complex. At first it was a niche and expensive technology for electric driven accessories, but soon it'll be as common as fuel injection. Can be said about most new car technology that can be really good
nah m8, it's orders of magnitude more complex
Nope.
>even non-AMG V8 cars will have their engines developed by AMG
noice
>lolpushrods
From what I remember, the R32's engine, the Supra engines (both JZs, but 2 in particular), and other I6s can handle a surprising amount of boost and easily push out 500HP on stock internals, right? Is this because of the nature of the I6, or are those engines just built for power?
god motor is back
>twitter
>alphonse trumpet
wtf is this
Kek
praise kek, V6 utterly and completely btfo
Sounds like a vacuum cleaner with grinding gears, not cool
kek
literally can't make this shit up
Boxer 6>I6
wrong
post an inline 6 faster than this
>implying
that's only unbeatable because that circuit doesn't exist anymore
