Who /drum brakes/ here?

Who /drum brakes/ here?

I've got a '13 Ford Focus SE, with a 5-speed manual. The poverty spec manual Focus only got rear discs from 2014 onwards.

nope

Who tf painted those? They look terrible.

Kek
>look at my shitty brakes everyone!

>buying a recent econobox
Should've bought a 3k civic.

My 93 Ranger has them.

It's the 4.0l with a five speed and 4x4, so it has a Ford 8.8. I've been toying with the idea of getting a rear axle from a same gen explorer

lancer drivers do the darndest things

>thinking disc brakes in the rear matter on anything under 300hp

It would actually be really neat to paint a geometric design on a drum. You'd pay an assload for that many colors of nice high temperature paint, though.

>discs in the front
>drums in the rear
I have absolutely no braking power in the rear. They're garbage.

I have an '04 Vibe witn rear drums. One doesn't engage when I pull the parking brake.

It pisses me off, because discs have fewer moving parts and have been around for fucking ever. The Olds 442 had four discs ffs.

>pic related is how it feels when your driving a shitbox with warped rotors.

That's how my Eclipse is, the rears are a joke. Makes it easier to slide around corners, but when driving normally it always feels like I'm braking too hard if I'm not careful.

Today I found out why my rear drums are vibrating.

Forgot to add the picture

you sprinkled some pubes on them?

Yes my '69 Ghia and '93 Polo G40 have them at the back and my '71 181 has them all round. I didn't know they were still made this millennium, none of my modern cars have them.

My wife has a base model 2016 Focus. It's got discs all around but here's something I've never seen before... power windows in the front, roll ups in the back

Wtf ford

My economy car from 2003 has discs all round, what's your excuse?

>car has drum brakes
>replace the shoes and hardware one day, took a solid 8 hours because drum brakes are fucking disgusting
>heading home from work, car starts fishtailing when I brake
>whatever, I'll take a drum off and take a look when I get home
>jack car up, wiggle a drum off
>drum brake fucking explodes, springs and brake fluid everywhere
>end me.jpg
>by now it's getting dark and I've got work in the morning
>fucking around with these retarded ass springs in the dark with a flashlight coated in brake dust in my mouth
>for 3 FUCKING hours
>finally get shit put back together, go to test the brakes
>hissssssss
>fucking air in the brake lines
>11pm with no brakes and work in the morning
>give up and have car towed to mechanic, pay 60 bucks for a millennial mobile and 100 bucks for a brake bleed
>now my brakes squeak when I let off them
FUCK drum brakes. Never touching those shitstains again in my life

>red drums
Disgusting.

The issue is on your front discs, not in the rear.
Drums actually have more braking force, they're just not as resilient to fatigue.

>Drums actually have more braking force, they're just not as resilient to fatigue.
Fucks sake stop talking out your ass. Did brakes have worse stopping power but last longer

*drum

Do you think they use disc brakes on 16 wheelers and heavy lorries?

Brake fluid is satan incarnate keep yourself safe

Do you think they use drum brakes on fucking supercars

>lorries
kys underage britcuck

Are you retarded? Don't you think the brakes on a supercar will suffer more fatigue since they're subjected to a lot more intense braking for longer periods of time?
Fucking google it if you don't believe me.

Hey newfriend.

Hey bitch

>Do you think they use disc brakes on 16 wheelers and heavy lorries?

They do. Some rotors are 430mm in diameter.

xtbossa.en.made-in-china.com/product/lSumZDEKYQRM/China-Truck-Brake-Disc-for-Man-BPW-Volvo-Daf-Hino-1404230412-.html

there is a table with OEM P/N, you can google images if you want.

Many still use drums, though.
But again, the main thing when using discs is avoiding fatigue, not exactly braking power.
Obviously discs will be superior to drums when both things are taken into consideration.

Shut up

This, I`ve had many times when my rear drums lock up.

Disc brake master race reporting in. Max weight rejected takeoff test.

My 09 ranger has em too.

>but here's something I've never seen before... power windows in the front, roll ups in the back
You never rode in a Dodge Neon? Even the SRT-4 has this setup.

and now you have brake dust cancer

I wouldn't be surprised in the least if I do

Even many modern German luxury vehicles still have drum+discs in the back. Of course its not used for main braking, but the parking brake uses it.

very common on lower spec models?

Jesus even fake brembo covers over the drums would look better than that.

>Easier to work on
>Simpler so more reliable
>Look better
>Less unsprung weight

When I saw the thumbnail I thought they were red from heat.

On all 4 corners.

*self-energizing drum brake designs have more stopping power due to friction and the rotation of the drum

>when even mjet finds something disgusting

>implying 99% of drums are'nt self energizing

Lole no

'82 CM250C, leading/trailing expanding drums front and rear baby.

You could pick up any of the disc conversion kits for a fox body instead of pulling and replacing an entirely good axle.

How can I convert my front discs to drums?

Hail, brother!
