How does this car look for $2500, chicago.craigslist.org/nwc/cto/6247515538.html . I'm looking for a car that's under 3k. Is it even worth it to go to a car dealership with only 3k, I dont want to make car payments right now I want to finish school. So far its either this or a 01 Honda accord with 196k miles and rust on the hood and back passenger wheel well.

Is there anything better in my area? I cant drive stick and dont want to learn.

I have a 99 XLE v6
It's been a great car, biggest problem has been the brakes
The steering is shit along with everything else related to driving being fun but the V6 has halfway decent acceleration
All around a great choice for a point A to B car but don't expect to get good MPGs out of it, i get low 20s in city and around 27 highway but mine is about to die though

>Is it even worth it to go to a car dealership with only 3k

no. dealerships are going to charge you 30%+ more than what the car is actually worth

bretty good. I would pay closer to $2k

>>mine is about to die though
Whats going to die on it?
>>biggest problem has been the brakes
Why is it hard on breaks?
>>The steering is shit along with everything else related to driving being fun
I drive my parents Prius right now haha

Ok fuck that.

I was going to offer 2k after I see it and see what they say.

Looks very decent. It still blows my mind that anyone would pay 10x as much for a newer version of this car when everything is basically the same. You just get slightly more power and an audio in cable, which is nice and all but not 10x the money nice.

I have an 00 v6 camry and the brakes are still perfect. Everything has been perfect. I've had to replace some lights and change the oil but other than that nothing in nearly 20 years.

>can't drive stick and don't want to learn
kys.

my brother has a 11 camry

what about other maintenance? like timing belt, spark plugs, and alignments?

soy hoto

wtf is soy hoto?

my bad soy joto

I had a problem with malfunctioning brake calipers that allowed the car to brake without pressing the pedal. Even after replacing the rotors and caliper it still stops unevenly. I had this problem with calipers once on the front driver side and once on the front passenger side which fucked up the rotors each time. Also expect issues with the struts. I had to replace mine and starting looking around the interwebs and found a lot of people complaining about the same thing so I'm guessing it's a common failing on that generation of Camry.
Mine is about to die because it has 175k on it and the transmission is getting weird. I need to move the shifter up and down several times to get it to go into reverse occasionally, also the shifting is getting rougher and I don't want to pay for a rebuilt tranny, the exhaust manifold needs replaced and it's started to develop electrical issues (keyless entry, cigarette lighter don't work anymore) it's not the fuse and i'm not skilled enough to try to figure out electrical problems. It's served me well for a good while now so I'm not complaining but the amount of things starting to go wrong is too much for an amateur like me to handle so i am looking around on craigslist and FB for something cheap.

Ok so ill make sure double check the brakes and everything electrical in the car. How do
I check if a trans is bad? just by how the car shifts gears?

If the car seems to switch gears abruptly then you might have a problem, you also want to watch out for if the car takes too long to change gears. If a car is old then some shit is going to go wrong eventually. Every car manufacturer has weak points no matter what their reputation for reliability is and the camry is no different. Luckily the issues I have run into are relatively inexpensive and have developed over time due to wear and tear instead of a bunch of things going to shit at once.

Wtf is this spic beaner shit?

This is a steal for it's age and price. 2500 for a 20 year old car with 103k on the odo? Seems really good to me OP, I'd do it if I were you.

Sounds good I messaged him for a meet up but im still looking for other cars just incase
