I had the same thought of how functionally immortal space aliens might be a death sentence on the planet, as they'd draw a tremendous amount of aether to live while returning it on death so infrequently. Coupled with the fact they could sustain a suitably large population to keep up a thousand years of war from a single brood, they might be a bigger threat than Primals in the long run.

I'm not too sure since I've only done the MSQ and no side quests, but I think I remember something being said about the original brood crashing into Hydaelyn and then Bahamut and Tiamat making their own brood before everything went down.

Yeah, that was my main thought process. The smaller and younger dragons seem like they're not as long-lived as the big named ones, but the pause in the aether flow back into the lifestream could potentially cause problems down the line. I'm also curious about whether this theoretical problem would apply to the Padjal if they live as long in perpetual youth as people say they do.

But do dragons need to continously draw upon Aether to survive, and even if so would it really be enough to endanger the area more than any other creature that happens to live by? They all tend to live in giant groups too so if that was the case everywhere around them would be really barren, wouldn't it?

It's kind of a shame that Alexander didn't start to drain the life/colour from the area it was around more and more each expansion. Its threat came entirely from talk and it never actually FELT dangerous at all.

I don't think they actively drain aether from the lifestream, but the absence of a regular flow might cause problems like the lifestream experiencing a glitch of sorts due to the lack of aether where it's supposed to be, which would potentially cause its own problems.

Look, if this is about me, you literally told me in tells that it was because rheia didn't like me after aether queues. Something that happened over 2 years ago at this point, the duration of which I've been unsubbed, on other servers, and/or playing different games.

What kinda message does that send to anyone looking to socialize, or get a group for content, when they see people holding grudges for this long? It's just cancerous, drop it and move on, but that might be expecting a bit much.

Other problems present themselves when considering that they are at least omnivorous (likely carnivorous) and don't seem to experience hibernation cycles. To maintain themselves, each dragon would have to hunt daily. Coupled with their size and relatively quick reproduction cycle, they'd exhaust prey supply - assuming suitably large prey also doesn't also have a breeding speed on par with rabbits. Basically, dragons are fucking stupid and it makes me angry thinking about them.

Well, as long as the dragon population stayed consistent and wasn't constantly increasing, I don't think it would be a problem. THey may not die often, but if you figure their population stays consistent then there has to be one passing away for every one that is born, which means a giant bubble of aether popping back into the lifestream to replenish it.
