iirc the first 5 hours of this game is almost nothing but mash X to battle because neither your characters nor your enemies have many abilities. And also from what I remember the rest of the game wasn't even remotely challenging if you just switched out party members mid battle.

He got better. Xrd takes place right after XX. I think Arcsys might eventually put all the missing characters from the XX series in Xrd so at some point Zappa will probably be playable again.

You can jab Akuma out of his demon flip most times. There is a meaty setup after ex red fireball and v-skill kick that you can't and there's also a semi-meaty timing window for demon flip throw after a vtrigger DP that you can't jab but everything else can be shut down pretty easily.
If akuma hits you with demon flip palm, it's still his turn so don't hit any buttons after that. Most akuma players will generally demon flip palm, do cr. MP and then standing MK and try another demon flip but go throw so just be ready to react and shut it down. Obviously if you're crouching and they whiff throw you can blow him up after that.
