Pic obviously related

Grou b obv
youtube.com/watch?v=tiTtgq2Pcow

>group meme
wrong

>t-they were so fast that they just kept killing themselves! obviously its the best, amrite?

>yeah, the new wrc is much faster and totally harder than old group b and a.

The only good thing that came out from group a was pic related and tme evo. Ford and corolla were nothing compared to rs 200,mg megtro, 037 and other cars from that era.

New WRC cars are much faster than any Group B "monster".
The difference is new WRC cars are stupidly fast thanks to technology advances, Group B cars were stupidly fast because they had way too much power for their own good and the drivers were complete madmen.

Yeah cause they have lots of electronical helps that didn't even existed back in the day. I would die to see some modern wrc driver drive an Audi quattro or a 037

They would be able to with ease, are you blind to the fact that they are still amazing drivers?

I highly doubt that they can.

what electronic helps do you think they have you donkey

That 306 Maxi is mean AF

You don't follow racing very much, do you?

GROUP B

...

Enjoy your boring and souless wrc

Yes.
If you're not plowing through spectators and sacrificing drivers to the god of traction every race, you're some kind of commie (not the cool rally lada kind either.)

>there are people who bitch about current WRC
>they bitch saying how they miss when cars had no traction control, stability control or ABS
>FIA WRC rules specifically state no computer related assistance

How to tell a poser thread?

> Appendix J – Article 255A, 5.1.1, E. Any electronic driving aid system is prohibited (ABS / ASR / EPS…).

fia.com/regulation/category/119

Do you even follow racing?

1960-1965

I made these for a Veeky Forums webm thread but I'll dump em here

...

Are you really comparing the difficult of driving a modern focus wrc against a 037?

>got BTFO about electronics
>now goalposts
Just admit it, you don't follow WRC, you never have. You are just a poser.

Reminder that /ovg/ has a league for wannabe dirt rallyists.

dirtgame.com/us/leagues/league/15874/ovgwrc

>b-but I swear wrc is better!
Fucking wrcuck. You are the poser, enjoy your shittier races.

50-70's were cool but slow as fuck

shit got real and fucking crazy in the 80's and the 90's was lit the new stuff now doesn't appeal to me like the older stuff did, just not interested in the current line up, safety regs also neutered some aspects of it too

>lada mating dance

2017 has been fantastic so far

>The only good thing that came out from group a was pic related and tme evo
>not the Escort Cosworth
>not the Delta
>not the old '95 Impreza
>not the Celica

>implying the only cars that matter in group b isn't the S4 Delta, Quattro or 205

>electronic driver aids are the only technology advances since the fucking '80s

Even the stratos was in group a, if I remember right.
Well yeah they were the cars that won more, but cars such as the mg metro, renault 5 maxi turbo, ford rs 200 and others were really good.

Uh, which is the pdf where it says that? Can you screencap it?

don't think so, the longest the stratos was in rally was till the late 70s in group 4 for the WRC iirc

...

That's some funny shit

Thanks. Never saw this due to all the fucking shitposting.

The 2016 255A PDF

Outside of tires there haven't been much advancement in the last 20 years of suspension work.

That hasn't been active in nearly a year.

To get all the purists and technologists riled up and fighting each other, implying left and right, you asked the correct question. There are strengths and weaknesses to each era.

I think a new question is in order... what is the worst rally class era?

Mine is Group N

...

Right now

They're active right now.

>active right now
I don't consider 1 event out of 36 months "active"

Also who cares about it? the top board is usually some faggot who spent 10 hours running the course over and over before finally setting his time.

>he cant run a respectable time in one try so he talks smack
Apply yourself drivelet

Mid-Late 90s, because in Canada we can get very similar cars on the cheap from Japan and drive them on the road.

Are you new to Dirt Rally? That's all anyone does for the no reset tracks. They see the track and the car go to a single event and run it over and over and over until they have it memorized.

It's why its so poorly designed.

>I would die
So would they

60 hours and counting, no idea what you're on about desu, i can make poll/podium on most of my leauges by doing blind runs, aswell as finishing in the upper quarter during the dailies.
And if what you're saying is true, what's stopping you from copying them and out-driving them if you want the win so badly?

Simply put, I would rather work on my actual car then spend hours on hours perfecting a single course so I can get my epeen in a game no one gives a fuck about.

Underated

>that beat to shit m1 trying to rally
M O I S T

>tfw I wanna play dirt rally so bad but I can't cause I have a potato pc

>implying the spectators standing in the road and getting killed wasn't an excuse to kill group B as the manufacturers wanted while the drivers wanted to keep driving
Follow the money.

Then good for you, but dont lambast other players simply because they beat you.
I'm running it fine on a single core, though i also have an R9 270x to back it up, so it's bottleneck city for me.
Codies games have always been very undemanding if you ask me

user, you must be really very new to the game if you honestly think a driver is 30 seconds faster than another without practing the track before hand.

I usually bitch about the tiny chassis rule change making all the cars samey as well as the homologation rule changes meaning none of these things should even be allowed to rally in the first place.
>subcompact shitbox a vs subcompact shitbox b
>with a body kit you'll never see and power trains that exist solely in WRC
This shit is gayer than fucking aids.

>implying the groub b porsches don't give me violent erections

...

Circumstances.
If i can make top 200 globally on KB+M, with the Kadett no less, then surely someone with a radical VR wheel setup can glass my time like nothing.
Or am i just naturally modest or something

Ayy tryhard KB+M crew. Though I do Assetto Corsa.

>top 200 globally
>205 people play the game
Not much to be proud of.

>top 200
Not really saying much

I did the first 20-30 hours of the game on KB+M, after that i decided to get a cheap off-brand gamepad because my fingers were getting a bit tired of the tapdancing.
Those times start from the games incecption though, iirc there are more than 10k recorded times in that leaderboard.

>2 years since release
>only 10k records
Yup, dead game is dead. your position doesn't mean much

>game is dead
It's not dota m8. Niche games are niche.

Top 2%, dunno about you user but in my book that's quite ridgeydidge.

I got a gamepad a while back as well but I just couldn't get used to it. Tried for a week but I couldn't even drift, not to mention hotlap so I haven't touched it since. I'll probably get myself a decent wheel someday but I wanna get a bike before that and university isn't helping the financial situation.

>top 2%
Wow, I mean that's amazing you are top 200 out of 10,000 players.

Come back to me when you are top 200 out of several million.

Why isn't rally a major thing in America?
You have diverse climates and terrains for race stages.
Was it because your cars were too big?
Or locals believing that itsy bitsy cars have no place off asphalt and should leave the dirt to trucks?

Well with your help user, we might be able to get together a community drive to have more people play the game, that way i can push to 2% out of 10m aswell!
I have a history of console racing aswell so i suppose that kinda juts me in the right direction while on gamepad.
The only time i've ever tried a wheel was back in like 2007 on a friends old PS2, was a hunk of junk though.

Because legal reasons. It's not because we don't get the cars, it's not because it's expensive to move them.

It's purely legal ramifications of spectators getting injured. That is it.

Here in the US we have the most bullshit lawsuit system for injuries and property damage. FIA will not touch it.

Because stock car racing morphed into going around a damn ring.

>Because stock car racing morphed into going around a damn ring.
With cars that don't even remotely resemble the production cars they're supposed to be "based on" besides the branding.

Sad.

Group B

>Ford and corolla were nothing compared to rs 200

oh come on

>people claim gas tanks can't explode

just mention the Pinto to them next time

and people say cars exploding in movies is fake

Thanks for recognizing the Evo TME was legendary. ;)

But I agree, group a wasnt at all the best time for rally, but it had its gems.

yet, Pikes Peak exist, with the spectators all getting a full view of the cars crashing into ditches or going at full speed past them. And the US do get some rally events here and there. they just don't get enough traction for some reason. I don't think organizers would be allergic to making events in the US just because of that

>they had way too much power for their own good and the drivers were complete madmen.

Your opinion is trash.

I would like to drive one so bad..

Holy fuck you are ignant

>when you drive one everyday
evo 5/6 really are the best evo's

>missed the 90s

fucking hold me car culture will never be the same

Such a shame, I would watch the shit out of real production "stock" cars racing each other. Sounds really fun

My favorite rally moment is when Makinen ripped a wheel off and they had to chase down his three-wheeled Evo V to let him know he's DQ'd because it was illegal to drive on the roads dragging half of a car corpse. It was a glorious scene.

Another glorious one was when wes tommi was leading the championship and he had to just finish the rally, but somehow he managed to fuck up. So he retired. Sainz corolla was 500m away to finish the race when the engine broke. This kinda predicted toyota legacy at le mans

pre 1970s
has more road cars
1990s devolved into a two horse race

>nonconformist teens on Veeky Forums are hating on group B now

wht chu knw bout tit ?

it was the same event
Great Britain round of WRC 1998

You can go watch stock cars racing in pretty much any Motorsport branch any day, it's boring as all fuck.
There is a reason why the only place where stock cars race nowadays is the amateur scene.

It's heaps of fun for the people involved because, you know, they are racing and not spending a fortune, but the races don't really have much show value. It's a bunch of slow-ish cars with a bunch of amateur drivers. People don't give a shit about Average Joes racing random cars.

>Outside of tires there haven't been much advancement in the last 20 years of suspension work.
LOL
Yes there has. Cars are way more planted.
