I busted my ass and was able to afford a C5 Corvette at 21 years old. Five years later and I still have it. At the time I bought it, it was 13 years old so it was already an old car but it was fucking pristine and had some mods giving it 400 whp. It was way nicer than anything anybody my age that I knew was driving, but I didn't get any dirty looks. Mostly people just complimented it and asked me how I acquired it. But I don't live in a pretentious area, most people here are honest.

However, when I went to poor places I did get dirty looks from jelly poorfags who blame their problems on everyone else. But there were also the poor people who genuinely just liked the car and were not glaring me down.

Just think about how other people will think of you if you drive a nice car. Assuming you didn't go into significant amount of debt for a STEM degree, you could afford to finance a $60k car or lease a $100k car. Assuming you have a $1000/month car payment which would be 20% of your gross monthly income if you make $60k a year which is pretty low even for entry level engineers.
