Will the Chinese fix FCA?

jalopnik.com/chinese-automakers-are-reportedly-considering-buying-fi-1797815771

they might fix the finances in the short term. then you'll end up with a Fiats and Dodges that are basically Geelys or BYDs under the body panels.

Fiat and Chrysler already have platforms so why would the Chinese feel the need to insert more? if anything they'd just supply money so FCA can be more ambitious about pursuing goals and projects they probably would've shied away from. they could fix whatever blatant common problems they have with certain cars they already have.

With the way the Chinese have treated Volvo i'm actually a bit optimistic since they seem like they really desire to keep these businesses afloat and/without trying to gut them or insert their own stuff at the expense of what's already there.

Volvo is owned by the Chinese but you wouldn't ever know. honestly i bet if Ford was owned by the Chinese the GT would've been much more likely to get a V8 since Ford would've felt more ambitious and the Chinese just would've encouraged better projects backed with bigger money.
>Chinese buys FCA
>Viper returns but with mid-engine config and this time built to sale to the masses with manual and auto options as a team of chinks autistically study the market.
>Challenger/charger gets a better chassis designed specifically for them that can put power down better (and) corner
>hellcat goes Super Satan and takes on cars nobody ever expects it to
Wouldn't mind this even if the before mentioned don't happen. i have a feeling they'll treat the company right.

they way to fix Fiat and Dodge is to fill them full of chinese made components and drive their prices down to Kia tier.

Volvo has been left alone, more or less, because they're a premium brand.

>he unironically thinks chinks care about supplying high performance, low demand vehicles
they would maximize profits on cheap econoboxes

>Viper returns but with mid-engine config and this time built to sale to the masses with manual and auto options as a team of chinks autistically study the market.

if chinks studied the market. the viper would return as a 2 seater FR with a flappy paddle box only. using a 10 kwh battery pack and small hybrid system to give it a 20 miles of EV range at city speeds.

Would the Viper not be better as a mid-engine car? there were considerations originally to do just that.

Please no, chryslers don't need to get any shittier

That wasn't the category it was ever sold in. they know Lamborghini has an appeal in its designated category and would try to aim for that market.

they would aim the Snek at the Corvette. Which is closer to the Viper's market than italians that cost 4 times as much.

Considering that the Chinese live with horrible pollution its highly likely that if they buy FCA they will make more electric cars to combat pollution, if this becomes reality expect alot of cheaply made electrics with an extreme case of planed obsolescence.

>Will the Chinese fix FCA?

Yes and no

FCA will be butched and chopped left and right. At least, we will get a bit better car, but they will be known as a chink car. no matter what you can change it or not.

rear mid engined is for gay yuroshit

Do you know that next gen corvette will switch to a mid-engine setup? so gay for you?

Like how they "fixed" MG?

do you know that to speak english?

Mwahahahahaha. You do not fix Chrysler. Chrysler breaks YOU. Also see: Mercedes.

4 door CUV. Oh yeah, they fixed 'em good.

>Will the Chinese fix FCA?
It's the end of the other american car companies. Unlike Volvo, with FCA, there will be finally a large number of dealerships, service centers, and established distribution network that tactics similar to other chinese companies can be done. The other car companies cannot compete against Harbor Freight type prices for cars. FCA will cannibalize enough sales from Ford and GM to make those companies shrink even more. Shrunken companies will have to pare down their lines and because both Ford and GM have large minimum fixed costs, the cannibalism has dire consequences.

>Will the Chinese fix FCA?
Cars will gradually shift to having more and more parts come from China as old FCA contracts expire and the chinese companies take the purchased intellectual property to manufacture the formerly proprietary items. Then more and more subassemblies come from China as old FCA contracts expire and are not renewed as the chinese factories gear up to make the formerly proprietary items. Then the whole cars come from China because labor laws and employee benefits are different and far cheaper in china.

jalopnik is a jucking joke, period.

the article says
>There’s a lot to unpack in this story. For one, it says a potential FCA sale could include Jeep, Ram, Chrysler and Dodge, but would exclude Ferrari
>but would exclude Ferrari
>ferrari part of FCA

If you follow just a little bit of corporate news, you'd know that ferrari has been separated from FCA years ago

>these people define themselves "journalists"
fucking pieces of shit

fucking joke*
i have huge thumbs xd

>jalopnik is a jucking joke, period.
Except that FCA had been looking for a buyer back in 2015 as various reports said.

i said that jalopnik is a fucking joke because everytime i read their shit, i see inaccuracy.

this article was no exception

There is a rumor about VAG open to fiat chrysler acquisition. FCA CEO is flirting with this idea, but back off because VAG is getting more serious about it.

It's hard to find contiguous large pieces of land in cities that are zoned to allow pollution centers such as car dealerships (service department is a hazardous pollution source). If FCA sells out to the chinese, I wonder how the usa-based pension holders will fare.

>emission meme

In fact, it is really tiny. It will take hundreds of thousands of years to notice the difference.

(((EPA))) are after the entity with a huge cash.

but why would VAG want them?
if VAG does end up buying them, what would change?

Alfa Romeo, Ferrari, Jeep, and Ram

>Ferrari - will share the platform with Lambo, Porsche and High-end Audi ones
>Alfa Romeo - will share the platform with Porsche and Audi
>Ram - Rebadged Amarok as Ram Dakota and so..
>Jeep - nuff said.

Economies of scale

what would happen to the rest of the gang?

VW probably sell Fiat, Chrysler, and Maserati.

>what would happen to the rest of the gang?
It's hard to imagine a chinese buyer wants to be holding the enormous future debt from covering pensions and retiree benefits packages. Or the chinese buyer can be ruthless and use tricky techniques to dropkick the debt.
