Here's a fun fact: If your character combination is offset to either side because of the plate motive or because of some logo on it, your plate is instant dog shit. If your character combination is split into two parts of unequal character count, your plate is instant dog shit.

Have you ever driven in the tri-state area? I'm pretty sure the main reason NY and NJ plates are yellow is exactly to act as hazard warnings.

in germany, the first letter, or 2 letters, or 3 letters designates what city you're from. ie one letter like b is berlin, or k for cologne, s stuttgart, h hamburg, f frankfurt, m munich n nuremburg....

2 letters like ka is karlsruhe wu wurzburg etc

3 letters is like the smaller towns

a) the governor (david patterson) who signed those plates into law was and is legally blind
b) the plates are designed to "tribute" to older plates, but the older plates were far less garish. the current plates are designed to be highly readable on camera, whether lit by flash photography or not (if lit by flash photography the orange becomes much brighter than the blue making it super easy to perform license plate reading)

I am that guy and I'm in maine right now, I actually like your guys' plates especially that lobster one. I almost never see it though it's mostly the pine cone ones that everybody has. Shame the roads here aren't so exciting or else it would be a fun place for hooning.
