What's a light, RWD, quick, good cornering car that isn't an MX5 or convertible?

What's a light, RWD, quick, good cornering car that isn't an MX5 or convertible?

MR2, AW11 or SW20

Granted, hardtop SW20 NAs, and especially turbos, can fetch a large sum of cash.

s2000 with a hard top.

E36.

Miata isn't exactly quick but ok.

But Lotus Elise/Exige, Lotus Caterham 7, Ariel Atom

you never said cheap btw.

t. miata owner.

corolla

IS300

none of those are light weight

t. Miata owner

Mustang

Not an mx5 kinda limits your choices

>I want a miata but I don't want a miata what do /b/?
When will this meme end?

I don't believe it ever will
at least now there're fiatas

When they start making Miatas with a hard top.

vw golf in reverse

but they do make miatas with a hard top

toybaru GTZ86

>buy a well sorted miata for $3.5-$4k
>buy a hardtop for $900-$1200

not that hard d e s u

corollas are light.

Uhhhhhhhhhhh boosted 240sx

first gen celica coupe
TEXX Corolla
Datsun 510/210

Cefiro or Laurel cause they are dirt cheap and rb powered

Porsche Cayman

third gen F-body

E30

what do you buy if you want a miata but need back seats?

911

hard top zzw30
GT86
e30 with interior strip and chassis reinforcement
lol no even with 3.0 its a slow piece of shit that excels at nothing but highways. Even e90.
Fucking had 3 mr2's do twisties in the night with e90 and e36 and we waited an entire smoke break for them. Even a seat leon with engine being run in outperformed them.
Unless its a M bimmer, they're slow pieces of shit. Maybe for you americans who you only get shitty landbarges they're exciting.

>even seat leon
>even
1.8t is one of the fastest shitboxes you can get in this price range 0-100 wise

E30
E36

It's not neccessarily a maymay. I'm too tall to fit in a Miata for example. I'll need something a littler larger but still want nothing too heavy.

I'm between 6 foot 2 and 6 foot 3 tall and drive a GT86 and it's comfortable.

RWD is a meme.

T H I S

Your a meme

I'm also interested in this, from all the searching I've done 240sx seems to be the answer, though unlike the Miata you'll have a hard time finding one in good condition.

Low power RWD is the biggest meme. RWD only matters once you're putting down serious power. If you're not, FWD's disadvantages are pretty much null as long as you set your suspension up right for your car/style/track.

In some cases (mostly amateur rally) FWD has advantages because of shit like Scandinavian flick

If it didnt have to be rwd, then Id say a golf 4 is miles ahead of any miata, but other than that, probably some bmw.

>woooow 0-100 matters so much in twisties
it was a family wagon

wrong, they're slow as fuck unless built to shit and back.
All non m bimmers are worthless for anything other than badgewhoring.

>bimmers are worthless
tell that to the whole European drift scene retardo.

>3 door hatchback
>family wagon
Ye, sure

>golf
>light
>quick
>rwd
pick one and only one mother fucker

That is impossible, sir. You cannot pick golf without picking quick.

>1.0 with 109hp
>3000 pounds
>quick
I'm the first to defend mid-tier 200-400hp cars as not slow, but user pls.

my car

these are p gud and so are teh S14s

86 is. meme tax aside you can import ones for a good price.

unironically a good answer if upkeep costs weren't an issue

E30 or E36/Z3

Ford Fairmont
>fox body platform
>Lightweight
>rwd
>cheap
>HUGE aftermarket for drivetrain

RX-7/8
bmw z3 coupe
bmw 3 series e30/e36
mr2 aw11, sw20
240sx

>what is the 850csi

kys

The '80 Fairmont V8 version is rated at 120hp and is weighting 1316kg. There is another version that makes 120hp but only wieghts 1220kg. I don't think it's the best contender for being a drift car.

A GC8 with RWD conversion.

Swap out the engine for a 351W and a T5, bolts right up, is cheap and can be found in most junkyards, and has enough torque to slide the ass end out before modding it
Mustang suspension components swap on to it as well

>V8 making the same than a 1L i3 turbo nowadays

wow

2800~ pounds, 100 hp and 1.9 in my case, and yes, its quick believe it or not, amd if you do an ecu remap, you can get over 120 hp from it.
