Can this day get any worse?

>Can this day get any worse?

Driving in downtown
Car starts dying and stalling
Didn't pay attention to the battery dummy gauge on the dash
Battery is dead, stuck on the side of the road
Fixed and back on the road in 45min

Any other stories of being stuck and fixing your car?

>Any other stories of being stuck and fixing your car?

No, I drive a Toyota

how exactly did you "fix" a dead battery?

I didn't drive it, but I was the one who had to get it out. 1.5 miles into the forest, middle of mosquito hell. Managed to drive my pickup most of the way into the forest, with all the tools and stuff

Nigger-rigged the fuel system by using a ketchup-bottle with a hose rather than the pump, which I could tell was missing a lot of pressure, and drove it out with one hand holding the bottle and one operating the throttle. Had to constantly stop and let the bottle get some air into it, and press hard on it to make the fuel go properly into the system

>Dead battery
>Stuck in traffic
>Car is not going to make it home
>Dies as soon as I park in side street
>Open hood, try to adjust terminals
>Didn't work, battery is clearly dead (I expected this but not today)
>Called my insurance company, they can get the car in a shop in 2 hours
>Say yea sure, hit up lyft app
>Found a car part retailer
>Lyft dropped me off, bought new battery
>Lyft back to the dead car
>Install in 3-5 minutes
>Car starts and dies
>Give it a few seconds
>Starts right up, everything works
>Just got home a few minutes ago.....

D-o other people just panic and call their dad to help them?

I live half way across the country so don't really have anyone to call, thank god for lyft and modern technology...

nigger what

was the battery casing cracked or some shit?

why didn't you just jump it off of the lyft driver or some random guy in traffic?

>>Can this day get any worse?
>dead battery

yes, it can actually get a lot worse you giant vagina

Fully drained.....

Not bothering with charging it, just crossing my fingers that the alternator isn't the actual issue..

I'm pulling the car into the shop anyway in a few days and getting the alternator replaced

>23 year old Volvo
>Driving on a busy road
>Plastic throttle linkage breaks, gas pedal ceases to work
>Multiple cars behind me
>Fugg
>Coast onto side street, use contour of road to pull over
>Find a roll of electrical tape in the glovebox and limp home
Pic related is not mine but similar

Lad if the battery light came on, it probably means the alternator stopped working and all the battery drained itself powering everything that the alternator usually handles.

Tried replacing a wheel bearing today, couldn't even get past taking the goddamn axle nut off. I broke three socket adapters and two ratchets. Used a 4 ft breaker bar and it just moved the entire car ( parking break was on ) but the axle nut didn't budge a mm. I feel pretty demoralized.

macgyver ftw

The battery shouldn't just die like that it's more than likely the alternator. If the car is running it should be charging the battery

Yea, I know

That is the reason I'm getting the alternator replaced

continued...
>Be me
>About 6 months ago driving fast
>Battery light turns on and goes off when I speed drive fast
>Alternator issue most likely as speed increasing and alternator can't keep powering everything at higher speeds
>Don't replace the alternator
>Months go by, car doesn't start
>Check engine light pops up
>Some code for sensors which are "failing"
>Do research on it and everything points to a faulty alternator
>Don't replace it and have a plan to change the alternator and battery in november
>Car has been parked for some time since I have been away on business and left the car in the airport
>Flew in thursday night
>Had plans to change battery and alternator sometime in a few weeks
>Died on the road today....

>I'm an idiot I know, should have replaced it months ago....................

>run over a nail on the way to work
>go to change flat
>can't find locking lug key
>completely chimp out for 5 minutes
>walk the remainding 2 miles to work

That's when I learned locking lugs don't mean shit if you have a 12 point socket on hand

Riding 70's honda cx500
>stop at gas station in the middle of no where to fill up
>finish filling, go to start the bike
>Click, Click,pshhhhhhhhh
>the main fuse blew, the bits hanging together are shorting, caught it before it melted the wiring too bad
>of course the gas station doesnt sell fuses
>take a break, buy a kit kat
>use the aluminum foil of the kit kat to replace the fuse and start the bike
>ride 150kms home, at night, with no lights

A i r T o o l s

Those things are on there with 300+ foot pounds, you don't stand a chance without a half inch gun. some jobs you just gotta pucker up and buy the right tools. Alternatively try chocking the wheel and getting a half (or 3/4", harbor freight sells them) inch breaker bar with probably about a 6 foot length of pipe and put all your weight on it

All you need is an axe

>"meme" bullshit

kill yourself

>pulling into apartment complex with my bike loaded in the back of my truck
>suddenly the brakes go flat and I have no pressure in the pedal
>Stop the truck and jump out to see fluid all over the drivers side front wheel well
>inspect closer and see a broken brake line
>buy a $100 brake line and replace it myself a few days later
Had I not been competent enough to replace a brake line, I'd have paid probably around $1k to have my truck towed and repaired at a shop

>On highway
>Condenser locks
>Snaps belt
>Car starts overheating
>Pull over
>Call a friend to drive me to auto parts store
>Get a belt that doesn't loop around the condenser
>Drive the rest of the way home without A/C
>Mfw it's 97 degrees out

$100?! I rebuilt my entire brakes for that much on a classic car!

Genuine eBay parts I assume?

one time I was racing and my throttle body boot blew off from the boost

when it happened I thought I was thoroughly fucked

naw just put it back on and tightened up to the point I rocked the whole car trying to move it afterward

it was summer and I was a cool guy who didnt want to wait for the car to cool so that was fun

Driving Ford Econoline Van full of dogs/pets to be brought home.
Two days earlier told manager battery light flickering. (I'm Ignored, I'm White)
At one of the homes of the dogs.
Radio in van goes silent.
Look at gauges, all seem oka,....Fuel on FUMES!
Co driver comes back.
Head for the company and gas station near by. Fill up. Van wont start.
Gas attendant pull his van up after hearing my clicking/starting noises.
Jump starts battery. SWEET!
Head out of station, van starts chugging and choking.
Look at gauges, Fuel STILL on empty.
Drive next block to pull into company lot make it almost all the way, need to get off main street.
Engine goes dead.
Steering locks up.
Coasting into on coming traffic.
Turn as hard as i can still coasting towards the corner of sidewalk. Sill blocking on coming lane.
Van dead.
Push van with others into company lot.
Drive with manager in her car to get dogos home safe and sound.
Van needed new battery, starter.
Was a beautiful day, but man, all those things happening was scary.
