It's cleaning and detailing weekend. Thinking of trying out one of the restoration products for black trim.

Most likely Mothers. Any suggestions?

How do I clean this up?

...

I've heard great things about meguiar's plast-x

You can try acetone on the metal parts and rust removing solvent on the tower there, make sure to let it dry for a good long while though

bump

hot

Mine will act as a bump.

Looks like shit. No regrets

...

Not much to it. But the accessibility is good for a complete amateur to work on it.

I need to clean it, because it sure ain't this pretty after the miles I've put on it in a year.

That feeling when car was gloriously undercoated every year since bought, but the downside being the engine bay looks like shit and theres grease all over the lower body panels.

Can't touch the fucking thing without turning everything up to my elbows black

Thanks faŠ¼, yours looks pretty clean too

>that rust
>that cracked rubber
No fucks given eh?

I thought it was a twingo from the thumbnail lol

>that air intake
>that cute little turbo

Yeah visually looks pretty bad but it looks nice and roomy without too much shit in the way

My pic was after a fresh cleaning with a rag and degreaser, took me a few hours but man it was worth it. Honestly the hardest part is just gathering the gumption to get started, once you do that your autism (should) take over until it's spotless.

that brake booster triggers my autism user

Please keep your engine bay clean.

Not technically mine, because I think engine covers just make it take longer for me to work on it, but similar intake

My ugly duckling, a 2007 Golf GTI Edition 30.

I want to clean it but I'm worried about damaging the electrical components.

It's a good thing it says Engine on it, I wouldn't have known.

Why would a car need such a big alternator?

It's extremely painful

Probably the twingo because most mechanics won't even know what the hell it is in the us lol

no heat shield on the headers?

>that rust

From the previous owner, no. Got this car no more than a month ago. The guy was good with cars, but he couldn't solve a vibration problem, and gave up on it, thus leading to the car sitting for a year with little to no tlc.

As for the rust, it's just the air filter top, so if I can get so code red rust remover or something and soak it one of these days, it should improve how it looks exponentially.

Doesn't look so bad in this pic honestly, as soon as you get that rust removed and the cracked rubber replaced it'll look pretty good

My thoughts exactly.

...

turd gen best gen, but get rid of all that smog shit

I daily it, so not as viable at the moment, unfortunately.

Its dirty as hell rn but here it is.

Yeah, just clean it a little and it will look good.
