If you want power and reliability, rebuild an old American OHV motor. You can get all the horses you want out of a 302 for cheap. Got about $1200 in my ~370hp 302 HO I put in my 2WD 88 gutted Ranger and my Honda bros Civic he put $6k into with a I6 motor and turbo barely keeps up. His Civic is full weight with 2 10" subs, A/C, etc.

The motor is just one part of the equation in this beat that.

Serious question, it seems like straight 6 engines are more common for large trucks than big V8s. Is there any reason for that? Like Hino trucks use a large displacement straight 6, like 7.3L liters.
