If you want power and reliability, rebuild an old American OHV motor. You can get all the horses you want out of a 302 for cheap. Got about $1200 in my ~370hp 302 HO I put in my 2WD 88 gutted Ranger and my Honda bros Civic he put $6k into with a I6 motor and turbo barely keeps up. His Civic is full weight with 2 10" subs, A/C, etc.

The motor is just one part of the equation in this beat that.

I'm wanting to put a 390 in my 4x4 Ranger but that's a lot of fab work and itd just be a snow ball effect in having to upgrade everything else from the suspension to rear end gears. Dont have the budget for that. I'm just going to buy an old F150 with a 351W and put it in a car.

In the current year why do some manufactures still choose the outdated v8 when the v6 makes more power better fuel economy and is more reliable? V6's are also better for packaging than v8's.

Serious question, it seems like straight 6 engines are more common for large trucks than big V8s. Is there any reason for that? Like Hino trucks use a large displacement straight 6, like 7.3L liters. Is this because of diesel? Or is it because straight 6 blocks are sturdier and would benefit much more from forced induction?
