Seems bizarre, doesn't it?

Quality post op, I'm sure whatever thread you killed was worth it.

...

Sounds like someone forgot to replace their apex seals

>it's the "everyone that disagrees with me must be invested in the thing I'm making fun of" episode

>it's the "i forgot to use premix in my 2004 RX-8" episode

Literally fuck off you manchild

Literally 9000RPMs you wankel

I'll 9000 RPM your wankel

That's hella suspect, my niggis.

It's a rather light, rev-happy engine. I'm actually happy about the enthusiasts that keep wankel engines on the road, even if those are mostly RX-7s and RX-8s (would love to have an Eunos Cosmo though). It's a piece of automotive history after all and I'm rather sure there are some piston engines that are equally extravagant in terms of maintenance.
I'm more confused about people who can keep their spirits up when maintaining cars with two-stroke engines like that fuckton of Trabants we have around here. Or that one weird Saab with the V4 engine. But again, it's nice to see people keeping history like that alive, even if it's shitbox history or "apex seals, lol" meme history.

My RX8 is on 108697 miles on its original apex seals.

But of course i'm not a poorly educated inbred from the south and therefore understand how to look after it.

Bizarre, yes. Eccentric even.

>100k

Wew lad, 100k is practically new

They're like Mustangs in certain parts of Europe...

>mfw OP jinxed it with this thread and made Mazda bring back rotaries
>WITH LASERS

>Eccentric
dis gai

Unironically this

ffs

Bizzare that car enthusiasts want something out of the ordinary and interesting? Well by that logic all car enthusiasts should own nothing more than a prius, being thats its all you need in a car.

Having a rotary engine is a labor of love. Some people want more of a challenge when it comes to owning a sports car. Plus you cant argue that the 3rd gen rx7 sounds great at higher rpms.

>He still drives ice shit when ev is superior on every single way
Lmao

>rev-happy
nigga it ain't even close

>HURR AN ENGINE ISN'T REV HAPPPY BECAUSE I HAVE A BIKE
What would actually impress me is a biker that had a single iota of self awareness.

Rotaries are like communism. Great on paper, terrible in practice.

Is it easy to maintain rotary engine? Are replacement parts affordable and easy to find?

nice autism, communism doesn't even work on paper and the rotary has actually won Lemans, unlike GM

It would be nice if there was a turbo version made in the last 15 years so we could get a technology upgrade. Many cars have doubled in horsepower since the FD came out.

>t. jealous of anyone who can afford to keep a poorly designed and objectively inferior engine running for no reason other than novelty

My understanding is that as long as you are able and willing to replace apex seals yourself, its not that bad.

Though I can tell you from experience that the ignition coils, spark plugs, and oil are more expensive to maintain on an RX8 than on a normal car.

They aren't that difficult to maintain despite all the memes around them, however they require constant attention.
RX-7's and Mazda rotary engines still have a dedicated aftermarket and community behind them too.

Why are like 90% of stock RX8's driven by 50 year old guys that use them as grocery getters? Is that why you see so many with blown engines because they baby them?

yeah let me know when cars have even slightly reasonable power to weight, or hp/l at under 6 figures. I'll happily sell the bike.

>there are no small, high revving rotary engines
How does it feel to be fucking stupid???

I'll also immediately sell the bike if we get a midship rotary.

>replace apex seals yourself
Do you need some special machinery for that?
As far as i know rotary is pretty simple engine, does not look like much hassle to disassemble it once 50k miles.

There do exist shops that specialize in rotary engines and rebuilds. However 13B's are so easy to tear down you could rebuild the engine in your garage.

I mean despite ecological problems having lightweight high power engine that could be renewed every 50k miles for reasonable amount of money sounds like not a bad idea.

>However 13B's are so easy to tear down you could rebuild the engine in your garage.

Like fuck they are. Yeah the block and rotor are simple but the 300lbs of shit surrounding it isn't. If that's true why do they sit in people's driveways or back yards for years with blown engines?

Yeah let me know when a slowfag bikecunt manages not to got rekt by me on the touge tyty

the highest revving rotary I could find any mention of was just a test, and only went to 14k.

If there's more, even if it's not in any form of vehicle I'd love to read up on it. Where are you finding this high revving rotary? I want one.

What 300lb of shit? Clueless dumb cunt
A fucking five year old girl can rebuild a rotary. You trying to tell us you're stupider than a five year old girl?

Nope you can easily replace the apex seals yourself without special tools.

It's not that difficult to tear a 13B apart unless the engine accessories and equipment was left rotting or unmaintained.

>slowfag bikecunt
You racing bicycles or scooters?

>being mad OP killed a thread w/ no replies in 15 hours

You are the very reason tesla and EV will beat ICE.

Everybody shut the fuck up, this thread is useless. fuck you, op.

>Communism
>Great on paper
No.

>Be John Britten
>Be genius

>implying communism is terrible

I`ve heard from a guy who owned a RX-8 that a defective apex seal often acratches the combustion chambers walls. Is that true and are shops specialised in fixing them or offering reasonable priced replacements?

>Implying it isn't

They only suck as street engines. Fantastic racekar engines.

>Implying 100 million people dead is a good system.

ppl hating on rotary makes me angry

>buying into porky's propaganda this hard

yeah, that happens
sometimes apex seals that have blown will gouge and scratch the housings and even the rotors

just dont be a dumbass and try to keep running an engine that is definitely blown

iirc, side housings can be refinished (nitriding i think it's called) and the end housings/irons can be lapped/refinished for flatness
not sure about the pricing on those services, though

>being a nigger

>implying human's dying is a bad thing

My Rx7 went 217k

Literally about to pick up a 40th AE

not without a comp test of course. Looking forward to it, i've heard they're a blast to drive. I also like working on my car so it's a win-win

50 year old guy here, daily my 8 and rev the piss out of it constantly.

Had a clutch fail though, that sucked

Ducatis and aprillas
Only the best food for my baby
