who's they?

>downshift to accelerate hard
>Downshift to come to a stop
What's hard to understand?

Rolling for red head or dark skin

>lower gear ratio increases the engine's mechanical advantage

you should be able to understand this

You know, (((them)))...

Can't explain that.

No, I don't know many people and they would not have said that.

I'de say down shift and floor it to go faster
Down shift and engine break to slow down

No delete this thread and fuck off back to

For me, it's the McNissan 370Z, the best fastfood sports car.

You downshift to engine brake? I only ever do that on downhill highways.

if im stopping at a light or some shit i just go into neutral and brake. every little bit of gas counts.

Wait wait wait, I'm new to manual driving, this thread is helpful.

If you downshift to accelerate quicker, what RPMs should you shift back up at?

Shift up either when you're done accelerating, or when you pass through the power band.

But this uses fuel because your engine is idling as you roll along.

If you stay in gear and come off the throttle you burn 0 fuel as the road wheels turn the engine and the resistance slows you down.

>downshifts on highway

wtf man. And who the fuck doesn't engine break with a smaller gear? Saves gas and your brakes. I always downshift atleast once if the speed is high enough, usually twice and sometimes if not in a hurry all the way from 5th to 4th to 3rd to 2nd to engine brake and to take a corner

Im not sure how you don't understand this.

>Slowing down, downshift to not lug engine
>Slowing down, downshift so you can accelerate faster because muh revs

46 is literally perfect

So you slow down for a bit just to go faster again. Wouldn't that ruin the flow of traffic?

... No, you rev match and accelerate hard if you want to speed up directly. Generally, you don't want to floor it if it's in a high gear so you can avoid putting high torsional strains on the crankshaft which come from applying lots of throttle and having a mechanical disadvantage.
If you're slowing down, you want to engine brake by downshifting to allow the revs (and thus the speed) to have more room to drop so the car doesn't stall.
Have you ever even fucking driven a stick?

gib qtone pls
