Which general auto parts store (o reilly, autozone, advanced auto, etc...) is best? Why?

Which general auto parts store (o reilly, autozone, advanced auto, etc...) is best? Why?

Which has better prices?

>Advanced
>AdvanceD

Pep Boys nigga

You want to talk about it senpai?

You guys for got the "why" part. Give your reasons. And not just because thats the one you have been going to.

Because auto zone is staffed by 20 year olds with Honda civics. And mouthy rude black women in their 30's who jump from one retail place to another, like Auto Zone

O Reily is staffed by fat black niggers who don't know shit

Pep Boys is the only one not staffed by absolute pricks of any kind

>need rear trailing arms
>ask worker at pep boys
>did you check the isle with towing equipment?
>what

I like napa, the people who staff the one in my hometown are chill

Because it's called Advance Auto, not Advanced.
>photo I found on Google says Advanced in the file
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Really though, I like Advance because it's very rare that they don't have something that I'd expect them to. It also helps that the local one gives employees of where I work discounts there.

This is almost the exact opposite where i live. The 20 year olds are at o reilly, autozone is middle aged white men, advanced is also middle aged white men with a couple females. I actually got approached on the flor and asked if i need help with any thing. I say advanced.

The only pep boys in my area shut down like ten years ago. Now it's Auto Zone, Advanced Auto, and O-O-O-Oreillys.

Rockauto

Walmart for stuff like oil, O'Reilly's for wix filters, Amazon/rockauto for some parts, OEM for important shit like sensors or if OEM is cheap enough

Ebay

Big store chains dedicated to automotive products doesn't exist in my country :(
I've to rely on the many small parts resellers around the area.

Online, hands-down is Rock Auto.

The SECOND BEST online is Autozone, which can usually get anything for you, and almost always has a 20% rebate for it at any given time.

Brick and mortar, Autozone for prices. NAPA for quality without the hassle of decent prices.

Im 51, and have been working on cars for over 35 years...and I used to be a NAPA manager.

>Rock auto

Nzfag here, I got 3 radiator fan motors, including shipping and exchange for cheaper than an OEM Mazda one would cost me locally after a 4 week wait ex Japan. Absurdity.

i used to work at autozone and can confirm. they intentionally hire retards with zero clue as to what they are selling so they sell parts regardless if the customer needs them or not (moral issues). i was a mechanic at the time and here are a couple things that would happen daily in the store and as to why i got fired.

>guy comes in with 2004 chevy suburban complaining of charging issues
> take a look at the vehicle and find the alternator is bad.
>tell him i would replace it on my lunch break for 50$ if he buys the part and waits.
>finish job, get paid guys happy and leaves.
>manager says next time i do something like that ill get written up.

>Guy comes in with oil light flickering on dashboard and asks how much an oil pump costs.
>asked to look at the s10 before he bought it.
>found wire broken on oil pressure sending unit, showed him how to fix it with electrical connector, potentially saving him 180 for the part and time for install.
>get written up by manager

>family comes in complaining there belt broke on a 2004 honda oddesy
>take a look, found the alternator bracket had broken somehow.
>told them to buy a new belt and to wait for me to get off work in about 30 minutes.
>clocked out, went home and welded bracket back together and reinstalled it on the persons car.
>the people each tipped me 40$ because they didnt have to get the car towed to a shop on a sunday and get a motel for the night while the mechanic fixed it and they were out of town.
>get fired the next day.

Fuck autozone and everyone who works there. we would have pallets of brake rotors and ignition shit go missing every week. im talking 400 pounds of shit suddenly missing from the store. and the shitbag manager that fired me ended up getting caught stealing shit in the store and getting fired himself. assclowns.

the sheer stupidity of people that would come into autozone is staggering. from people that yell over the phone "WHY DOES IT MATTER WHAT YEAR IT IS OR WHAT MODEL, I JUST WANT A LIGHT BULB" when we have no fucking clue what the fuck they are needing for there purple ford fiesta.

Or the guys that try and pull a fast one by returning an alternator or starter from a different vehicle. i cant tell you how many times people have tried to do this. but if your going to try this, be subtle about it. im pretty sure the big diesel starter isnt under the warranty registration for your chevy malibu, retard. or that your 2003 ford mustang doesnt use v-belts anymore for its powersteering pump either.

>brothers tail light goes out
>socket is rusted out and practically destroyed when we tried to get the bulb out
>go to NAPA, stoner fag at the desk tells us they can order a new socket for $72 but it'll take a week
>proceeds to tell us to just go to a scrapyard and find an old GM (bro has 97 camaro) and steal a socket
>fuck that. leave
>make wrong turn going home, end up in O'Reillys parking lot
>fuck it, go inside
>ask the 70yo employee about the socket
>oh yes we have the socket over there, its $8
that and after some NAPA guy tried to tell me i needed to replace my entire turn signal stalk to fix my blinker/DRL that would stay solid (bulb was literally just plugged in upside down) and Advance couldn't tell me what the P0420 code meant I only use O'Reillys, usually can have a nice chat with the dudes at the desk there too.

>Being racist

>being so easily offended
How do you survive?

Trak Auto.

Neck yourself nigger

I just take joy in the fact that statistically you are gonna get shot by another nigger before you are 30. Self solving problem really: The only thing coons are good at is dying stupidly or going to jail and they fucking know it, and that is why they don't even bother trying to amount to anything.

Who's the one gettin offended easily now cracker?

Maybe ur upset that you'll be a minority in your own country by 2020

You're both faggots now stfu before big papa gets the belt out

Hey guys.

Each of the mentioned establishments are chains, meaning it can be a totally different experience from one store to the next. Just letting you know the pricks or saints at your local outlet aren't representative of an entire franchise and this entire thread is useless.

I go to autozone because they usually always have the parts I need, even though their workers are retarded.
I just order all my shit online and pick it up at the store.

love this movie

lots of retail has perverse incentives
sounds like you could be a rouge travailing car repair sales man
go door to door asking if car needs fix
ambush obviously broken cars at car parks or intersections
stalk unwell cars with squeaky belts and wobbly wheels until they brake down
introduce your self to people working on their car on the side of the road
deliberately sabotage parked cars and lurk in the bushes and wait till the owner attempts to repair it

Spank me daddy

>tfw Leaf
>tfw literally no place other than NAPA
>tfw I don't drive a fucking shitbox either so they never have my stuff in stock and I need to special order it
>tfw fuck this I might as well just order from the nice little Cuban man who works at the Toyota parts counter instead

>Rock Auto

Shipping kills the deal though.

I ordered from rock auto recently and it went very well. I haven't priced many parts for my vehicle with them, but it seems to be (so far) about half of what napa or advanced can offer. I was trying to fix an evap code on my truck to get it inspected.
Evap vent solenoid: 20 on RO, 45 at NAPA
Fuel pump assembly: 150 on RO, 250 at NAPA (approximately)
bosch spark plugs: 4 on RO, 8 at NAPA
Since there was a service bulletin for the vent solenoids failing due to dust clogging them up, I replaced that first and wanted it done fast so I got it at the local NAPA. But since that didn't fix the issue I ordered the fuel pump assembly late wednesday night, and it was at my door friday afternoon. I also ordered 8 spark plugs and those aren't supposed to arrive until next friday though, guess those were being shipped from a different location. Shipping was 13 for everything.
I guess if you want it right now, of course a local brick and mortar vendor is going to be your best bet if you're willing to pay the higher cost. Rock Auto is great if you can wait a bit for the parts to come in. And of course shipping costs for a low cost item might not be worth it. It all depends. I will be using rock auto in the future though, the price difference is astounding.
>pic related is fuel pump install.

Oh yeah, the managers at autozone are such scumbags. One time they sold me the wrong product and the manager tried to accuse me of stealing when I asked for a refund. The workers have literally no clue about cars whatsoever ("what's a breaker bar bro?"), I'm convinced they're all busriders. Top that off with the fact that the manager is a piece of shit and they sell the same products as o'reillys at higher prices; that guarantees I'm never going in there again.

You're a good guy user, you don't deserve to be working at that shithole with that human pond scum giving you orders.

I mean the shipping price, eg XG4967 is $8 on Ebay with free shipping, $7 on rock auto, with like $4 shipping

Oh yeah, maybe compared to ebay. I didn't look there for my parts. From what I saw, parts on rock auto were cheaper (even including shipping) than they were at the parts stores.
In the past I have ordered used car parts on ebay, never new ones. Maybe there are good deals on ebay, but perhaps returns (if necessary) would be easier for a company like rock auto? I'm not sure. I think when you get into the higher priced parts thats when rock auto really becomes worth it, like the fuel pump I got for example.

If you manage to get everything to ship from one warehouse it's pretty damn cheap, Even to Canada which always gets raped by shipping. Yeah if you're ordering a front bumper it's going to cost you.

Walmart
>people who know nothing about cars selling parts and tires to people who know nothing about cars
>if you read between the lines its all refurbished, would never let them come within 10 feet of my car
Autozone
>people with minimal car experience selling parts to people who dont know about cars
>they sell vinyl wraps and led strips and 30-year employees will give you a blank stare if you mention ignition coils or anything other than brake pads or wipers. nuff said
OReilly's
>never had a bad experience, won't bullshit you if they don't know something
>most of them have second jobs as blue-collar workers, unlike AZ and Walmart who use the job as their only income and still eat balls at it
Never been to Advance but my mom went there once and they sold her snake oil

>no CarQuest on the list

well shit, checked summit and ebay. All for the same ACdelco fuel pump assembly for my 01 Silverado
$142 Rock Auto (plus shipping)
$160 Summit
$115 ebay (with free shipping)

NAPA make a lot of their money catering to mechanics and other auto businesses so employees tend to be more capable, but the smart way to shop is find out what you need by part number online then print the page and bring it with you.

Just bought some Techron from walmart, cheapest I could find.
