PROVE ME WRONG

V6s have a lot of shitty inherent problems that require extra shit to cure.

boxer and straight 6s are godmode though.

shopping carts don't have cylinders retard

you sellin' that Sparco steerin' wheel?

Alright

12
failing that, 6 in a line

Accurate.

F&F movie set in japan. nothing but "high school" kids with custom cars that cost $100,000. casually racing through city surface streets.

it is like no one even knows what tokyo is really like.

initial D I can at least give some suspension of disbelief. since they are all living out in the mountains and generally drive older cars with minimal mods.

4.

Anything more is waste

That's the point. American high schoolers can buy a 400hp stock domestic with a year's part time at minimum wage. And it'll get you down the road reliably.

>not having 4, 1 cylinder motors, one for each wheel.

4 strokes 4 cylinders, anything else is a waste

It's not set at the same time the film was released. That's why they can afford 'modern' cars. Plus Han was shown driving an LFA in a later film due to the money he got.

Kys weeaboo, they also fucking jump cars from building to building and drag a massive fucking safe behind 2 Chargers, but this is what you take issue with? The series has been weird and stupid since the beginning anyways.

Don't forget heisting DVD players and CRT TVs.

Also this, FnF Tokyo drift takes place after fast five. (or was it the sixth one? I don't remember)

the black kid shouldn't have had a car at all. you know how much it costs to own a parking space in Japanese urban area? plus you have to own a parking space before you can register a car in Japan.

i used to live in japan and know what the car scene is like there in the 21st century.

6, inline. V8 is acceptable too

the only correct answer.

Didn't LJK Setright describe a gentleman's car as having more cylinders than wheels and more wheels than seats?

I don't know still higher than 0.
Sounds like it's old technology more prone to breaking down and requiring more maintenance.

>he doesn't want 8 in a row
Pleb.

In terms of balance 12 or 6

>ITT everyone to poor for a V12

Nobody ever made a straight 8 with more than 5 main bearings, so they can't take much power. Not to mention their compression ratios are hilariously low.

You.

I like you.

More than 6
V6's don't count, they are soulless

Two dozen side by side or eighteen all around.

>2 seats
>3 wheels
>4 cylinders
Godmachine.

Eight. Four in one bank and the other four in a second bank.

V?

yes. but what is this abomination in your pic?

a shit

8

V8 IS ONLY ANSWER, NOTHING CAN MATCH THE RUMBLY GOD

Weekend car: V12
Track car: inline 5
Daily: 0, electric

5

why not V6?

da suzuki V6 is all you need

8 for drag
6 for all around
4 for gas sippy
0 for drift

Why is everyone saying 4? are they the most efficient or something?

I'm an automotive engineer and the objectively right answer is six, flat six.

If only you could understand.

...

I'd like to hear your take if you'd care to explain

>Tfw you have a V8

This guy gets it.

Neither primary nor secondary imbalance and overlapping power strokes make it perfectly smooth. Same goes for inline six, but the flat six has a lower center of gravity and a better vertical moment of inertia due to being shorter.

Zero's still better- even better if you want to base it off "smoothness" and lower centers of gravity.

Elon Musk please go and stay go, and take the EV meme with you.

aka v6

flat 5, turbocharged

>lacks the torque that the V8 has
>lacks the balance and simplicity a inline 6 has

Personally, my least favorite engine configuration.

So, you have no legitimate argument against 0 vs 6?

Turbo'd 3 banger

Apples to oranges, pal

No I don't, not that it matters. Now go tell your mom that you won an argument on the internet.

2 cylinder boxer

>flat 5

Holy shit I didn't even think about this, that's pretty good excuse that goes with the retcon. Doesn't explain the flip phones though.

I can't... she'll ask what it was then beat me, because she has an inline six. Fucking bitch.

>more cylinders than wheels
8:4
>and more wheels than seats
4:5

bargelife, don't care

Turbo inline 5
>that sound
>smaller than an inline 6
>more powerful than an inline 4
>less gay than an inline 4
>can be used in fwd cars (gay, I know, but many people find that important)

How is a 5 cylinder engine inherently more powerful than a 4 cylinder engine?

Not inherently, just more potential

Not really, an inline 5 is smoother than an inline 4 though.

As far as I understand, more cylinders means smaller cylinders, which means better balance and either the ability to rev higher or keep the same rev limit while increasing the size of the engine, both of which means more power. I could be wrong though

6 in a V is the best overall

3 to 6
I like light cars.

>6 inline is the best overall
ftfy

Balance also heavily depends on the engine configuration (inline, boxer, V, and for V engines even the angle between the banks is a big factor) but yeah, that's generally the idea.
Smaller cylinders make an engine more free-revving too (revs rise and fall more quickly).

too long

pretty much trashes the balance of the car compared to a V6

P much this, with an allotment for the I5.
