Have you ever sold a car to someone while hiding a fault?

Have you ever sold a car to someone while hiding a fault?

'yes'

story?

'ok'

Yeah 2 cars and 1 motorcycle.

The bike had a crack in the frame near the motor mount and i cross threaded 2 of the 4 spark plug threads in the block.

Never got any angry calls or anything so I assume they never found the issues.

...

Had a white civic, got keyed a few months ago but the scratch is barely visible because its white

sold it for 13k "excellent condition" without the guy who bought it from me noticing it. Put "as is" on the bill of sale and he signed it so I'm scott free

Did you ever catch the bitch who keyed it?

No, I filed a police report, and of course no cameras no one saw shit. The way I knew it got keyed was my neighbor's car also got keyed and he saw my car did too.

Its visible but you only really see it if you're looking for it.

good white car feels I guess

I learned to hate white because it gets dirty so fast but it seems its paid off in this one instance.

Sold my 7series e65. Trans will blow up at any moment. It is fixed temporarily. It will get someone stranded. Ecksdee

yes a trailblazer with multiple electrical issues.

...

shows dirt > shows every tiny scratch and swirl, dent, Nick, and water spot

>buying the ugliest krautwagon
>buying over 10year old german luxury limo
They kinda deserve whatever happens

Had an old RM250X that seized going up a hill. Figured I'd try and unseize it coming down and it worked. Put it on Craigslist as is the next day

They took it too another country, so they cant bother me about its problems. It was my baby tho.

My E90 is burning oil

Fuckers at the dealer told me it was flawless. No smoke on test drive. They said the previous owner sold it because she "wanted something bigger".

I got it through MOT so jokes on them, there's like 11 months on it, I'll probably sell it by then cos I doubt it will pass done by the book.

My time is more valuable to me than a slightly larger sale on an old vehicle of mine.

Last time I sold a car, I meticulously listed everything right (no mechanical issues, perfect service record) and wrong (cosmetic issues) with the vehicle. Everyone knows what they're getting with no surprises so you get fewer tire kickers.

Sold it to the first guy who came to look at her. Don't give a shit if I could've gotten back more by hiding issues and keeping the listing up longer.

Need I say more?

Is "not starting" a fault?
Or a slight moisture problem, making your AC work so hard on a wet day it can barely climb a bridge?

What a fucking shithole.

It must have been poorly maintained. I have mechanic friend who inspects all my cars throughout before i buy them, you should do same. Especially if you are into bmws.

Ok.. What more do you need from 17 yr old cars interior.

Not such a depressing third world view for one.

Why does that steering wheel look way older than the rest of the car?

Nexts years models have more sporty wheels, this wheel really date's the interior.

LOL who hurt u? B. Your train of thought is too fucked up for me to get.

do you live in the same place the hurtlocker was filmed

i love 7er's

if i dont give two fucks about maintenance tell me why i shouldn't get one

Looking at 750li E38's and 745/750li E65's.

OMG. Fanny. Georgia, country not amerifag state. Not 3rd world, more like developing.

You're not allowed to use that picture.

shutup bitch
I'm right and you're wrong, I'm big and you're small, and there's nothing you can do about it

Buy e38 if you get it in mint condition, i mean visually, prices are going up on them where i leave. About most hated 7er, you should worry about transmission, check for jerky downshifts when stopping at red light or flooring it. Stereo system fails on them and is really pricey. Driving dynamics of e65 is far better then comparable models from other brands. I highly recommend it if you are into looks and can source parts for cheap

im actually one of the very few people who like the e65's look.

im a fan of the bangle butt

Nope, never sold a car

Bought a Corolla in college for $1K which had been totaled twice, had dents, bumpers replaced never painted, junkyard engine, etc

tacked on another 100K miles, no issues

I lied and said my jetta got 33mpg but it only got 27.

I changed my name and moved to the midwest right after that though

Sold my old CVPI that had a slightly bent frame, ultrashit nigrig wiring, a roof leak, mismatched rear bumper, an odometer that only worked about 1/3 of the time, cracked exhaust manifold, and a cracked trans case that leaked about a quart of fluid per week and slipped like a mad cunt. I put some (non high-temp) epoxy over the header leak and the trans crack, and dumped a ton of that anti-slip snake oil shit that only works for like 500 miles into the trans. Paid $700 for the car and sold it for $1800, to a guy that never even test drove it, just bought it and put plates on it and drove away. I found it about 2 months later sitting in a pick-n-pull yard while looking for parts for muh trucc and knew it was mine because of the mismatched rear bumper and the particular set of scrapes on the passenger side.

Yeah. Had a late model Saturn SL2 that had a start issue. Just sometimes wouldn't turn over.

Changed starter, wiring, fuses, relays (literally every fuse and relay for shiggles, used to have a small junkyard of saturn parts), ignition switch, key cylinder, etc.

I don't think there was a part I didn't check and replace in the starting system.

So, since it still did it every now and again, I typed up a note describing the issue and what I've done to try and remedy it. Laminated it, zip tied it to the starter, sold it for about a grand under what they were going for at the time

My first car was a 2004 wrx that was almost completely submerged in hurricane sandy
I didn't have flood insurance so I fixed it up on the cheap (it was still like $6k for a new interior and everything electrical)
Moved out to Nevada a year later and traded it in on a jetta TDI , got $5k for it and they didn't find anything during their inspection

sold my old prius at 200,000 to some couple and i never told them once a month the whole computer would shut off. it'd drive but you wouldn't know what your speed was.

that's a 1k repair but it didn't happen during the test drive so i never mentioned it.

>While hiding a fault
I list everything to eliminate tire kickers. Usually if I'm selling something I want it gone ASAP and profit doesn't much matter to me.

I once had a real lemon I let me friend sell. Just listed on Craigslist for $1500 and let my friend bullshit his way to a sale of $1200. I gave him $500 and pocketed the rest.
>That old Ranger had a cracked head on the 2.9 and barely ran
>Some highschool kid bought it for, as my friend said, a daily driver trail rig
>Friend told me they argued that it just needed a tune up to run right

However I've purchased a vehicle with a major fault.
>Mechanic friend and I drove 7 hours down south to look at a car for me
>Pristine car, only a couple cosmetic problems in the interior from wear
>Great on the test drive, everything was going well
>Smelled the oil and it smelled like synthetic but different in a way
>Mechanic buddy smelled it as well and he said it smells like high performance synthetic, but he wasn't sure
>Owner brought out a couple 5qts of some foreign oil, very similar scent but ever so slightly different
>Looked it up on Amazon and it was around $40 for 5qts
>Purchased the car and drove it home
>Immediately changed all fluids to get it on a maintenance schedule
>The moment the oil started flowing out I knew something was off
>Proceeded to change with Amsoil full synthetic
>About 30 miles later rod knock was ever so slightly audible
>Ended up parking the car and sourcing a used engine from a pick n pull

During the engine swap I found wiring for an amp that was tucked up neatly against the firewall. Had to be 2 gauge or heavier. Did a nice job running it to the trunk, but was quite disappointed he took the time to hide it nicely.

He also took the time to glue the OEM rubber pads onto his aftermarket racing pedals to give it the OEM look.

Everything that was replaced must've been torqued to 100ftlbs.

>Everything that was replaced must've been torqued to 100ftlbs.
oh god no

The guy who bought my subaru had no idea I shat myself an hour earlier.

No, I always disclose every little thing that I'm aware of.

>pristine versions of my car go on CL for 5-3k
>meanwhile mine needs a bunch of expensive work and looks like shit inside and out
>basically anything that can be broken, ripped, stained
>planned to sell it for 2k
>just realized its burning oil like a motherfucker
I wont be able to sell it for fucking anything if I dont hide the fact that it drinks oil like koolaid

>>That old Ranger had a cracked head on the 2.9 and barely ran

A 2.9 with a cracked head? Astonishing!
I almost didn't buy Grandpas mint '87 for $1k because I'm still scared the heads will crack.

When the wife drives it she is instructed to pull over and shut it down if it gets a cunt hair over half scale.

I go full disclosure on anything I sell and put a cheap firm price on it. If the first guy wants to negotiate, I'll have the 2nd and 3rd guys out willing to pay what I'm asking in minutes.

shut up hoovie, you tasteless spoiled brat

>hurr why are used cars so expensive?
>hey goys listen to how i screwed someone over
everyone itt should kill themselves

Fuck a odometer nigga

People like you should be executed

Wow, you really are a piece of shit

>advertise a 3k civic with a few simple mods
>the mods weren't simple

Yeah, sold my Suzuki samurai, total piece of shit no floor, brakes etc. guy only wanted it bc it has a running motor and drives. He takes it up the road, dies in middle of road it dies, open the hood and belt snapped bc of seized alternator and I convinced him it was a dead battery. Got my 500$ back for what I paid for it

this thread makes me angry

There have been many times I wondered "does this make me a bad man?" As I bondod over holes in floors, frames etc.

My worst was my rallycross escort z 2nd, but to be fair I bought that for 250, raced it 6 times, dd it 4 months and sold it for 75, so I don't think anyone was under the impression it was solid.

I also traded a dr350 that had the bottom case held together by epoxy.

I sold a Subaru Forester for two grand after I bent a rear trailing arm.

3 years ago i asked 4 Chan on advice how to sell my celica, it looked mint inside and out but it has hella broken teeth on the flywheel so 1/5 time you tried to turn it on the starter will be spinning like crazy. I was told to sell it for 800$ but sold it for like$1600 to some redneck lol. Pretty sure he was flipping it but whatever.

Also sold a jetta with the annoying ass alarm issue didn't even tell the dude that bought it lel
