>Steel Division: Normandy 44

So how is it? It's about the only game that has interested me in awhile.

I personally prefer it to red dragon and airland battle.

Its got some quality of life improvements over the previous titles, like a dedicated "show me line of sight" button.

Its a decent middle ground between gookclick and realistic wargames.

What's got you interested in it?

Looks like a modern version of Close Combat, I enjoyed Wargame.

You should give it a go, you can refund on steam if you don't like it.

You might want to check how long you can play before you can refund no questions asked, but you can usually get a refund even if you go over the time.

Its a fun game.

who else /autistic screeching eagles in 10v10/ here?

marauderspam best day of my lyfe

Those fuckers are in all my 1v1 games too. I think it's not a coincidence, probably strongest division in game.

how much does open top or enclosed matter when they are low armor anyways?

flamethrowers auto kill open topped vehicles on hit

>flamethrowers auto kill open topped vehicles on hit
I did not know this

Eugen aren't very good at explaining important gameplay mechanics.

What do the numbers mean Eugen?

that's why we prefer not to put the numbers in the armory
honhonhon~

It's 2 hours before you can't refund, and I actually haven't gotten any leeway on that

Having said that I've returned a lot of games so if you haven't you might have more luck.

Are there any cold war/modern era naval games that are like CMANO but for retards who can't figure out CMANO?

I believe it's 2 hours for a guaranteed refund, you might be able to go over a few hours if you give a good enough refund reason.

not exactly modern era, but Rule the Waves is early 20th century.

Theres an unknown cap on how many games you can return before they start to require reasons for a refund.

If its your first refund they don't need a reason really.

>try to play rtw
>keep trying for peace and unity with the world amidst rising tensions
>keep getting fired for since most of the anti-war functions make you lose prestige

feels bad man

You can play to about 1950ish, but the tech stops at 1927.

If you want a modern version of close combat, get Combat Mission

speaking of Combat Mission, does anybody have Red Thunder?

How many dense city maps are there for QB?

I have red thunder, they have a fair few actually.

Not sure of an exact number, but I've played quite a few different city fights.

...

I like urban combat in a lot of games, but I wouldn't exactly suggest combat mission for that.

Combat mission has the best urban combat of any game in this thread

If I were to pick up my first combat mission game, which one would you recommend?

Normandy, most overall content. Thing is battlefront are a bunch of kikes and so they've got half a billion things to buy on top of things or entirely different games on the same war. Daft.

Close combat and steel panthers have it better, men of war is also to mention. Short range can still work in combat mission but the moment you get in CQB you're just asking for trouble.

Everything after Battle for Normandy plays the same, it is all about which setting you like the most.
Black Sea plays a bit differently though because modern vehicles are much deadlier

Thanks. I have heard of their kikery already, but I'll keep that in mind.

>men of war
>fight for streets mostly
>no room to room combat

>Close Combat
>destruction is just little rubble sprites
>no multi floor combat, just a number on the building deciding how tall it is

>steel panthers
>click hex
>they get defensive bonus
>just like every other hex game

>Combat Mission
>can fight your way up every floor of an apartment block
>can blow off walls to remove cover/make a doorway
>can destroy entire floors, cutting off stairways
>can hide/prone in a building and be completely hidden from passing tanks even if they are right on the street

Not him but even while CM offers more options the CQB combat is still iffy. Very awkward to do.

>greentexting flaws in some games while not doing the same for the one you're defending

For starters you have no room to room combat in combat mission, and thank god for that, because the main reason CQB is so wonky there is because units will enter a building with no inner walls looking in random directions. You can have a single guy in front of the door mowing down tens of enemies because they all look the other way.

Close combat itself has multi room combat in bigger buildings, but the reason why it and steel panthers work is exactly because they abstract that stuff.

Blowing off walls is the main thing going for combat mission but that's only because it allows you to completely avoid CQB, turning it into short range fights, like I said. And the user specifically asked for CQB.

The only instance you can afford to enter an enemy held building is when they're on the floor stunned/pinned to oblivion, but then it hardly can be called "combat".

>but then it hardly can be called "combat".

>suppress your enemy
>its not REAL combat

The close range part. You don't suppress the enemy in CQB, you do it from outside the building. Honestly is it that hard to read the full post and use context instead of nit picking one part with no context.

>use short range combat to suppress the enemy/bring down the walls
>throw grenades
>walk in to find maybe a single shell shocked survivor crying for his mom on the floor>your men take 45 seconds to kill him despite him being right beside them because they all look the other way
>finally kill him
>WOW GREAT CQB GUYS

See I can greentext too

maybe they were beating him and making fun of him before killing him

I guess. It's just sad to see in motion though.

this guy gets it

Christ. It's like I'm really being bombed back into the the Stone Ages.

>AI 10v10s
y tho

Playing against the AI is a lot of fun especially when you can control all the decks being used

Actually playing against the AI is great since you don't have to deal with people.

Its nice to have opponents of consistent quality

DO IT AGAIN BOMBER HARRIS

>confusing store interface, can't tell wtf is what
All right, I was not prepared. On second thought I really don't feel the need to pick up a combat mission game.

So do you guys play through lobbies or quick play?

This is some real fuckin' cancer

>4 Fallschirmjager decks
>all of them stuffed with planes, offmap arty, and 88s
>any attempt to push is stopped by offmap barrages and a shit ton of planes
>then this fucking deathball of 88s attack+moves across the runway
>88s surviving offmap barrages like it's nothing
>shell them for 10 minutes with a pair of 105s
>kill 3
>see more still coming in

Eugen this is unacceptable etc.

I do quickplay 1v1s

>4v4 on a 1v1 map size
>implying 101st battleship off-map wouldn't clear that out
Looks like cancer of your own choice imo.

This.

>going into a match knowing that the opposing force is stacking
You brought this upon yourself. Next time you see 3 or more players going the same deck back the fuck out.

play cancerous settings, win cancerous prizes

yes

>implying 101st battleship off-map wouldn't clear that out

I tried, but it died to plane before it could get close enough to call in. A friendly was calling in offmap arty that looked like 155/203, and it was doing fuck all. I also had no idea that was a 1v1 map. Pardon me, I've played

Almost every game you join without friends is going to be a stack. Nothing has changed from RD in that regard.

rutracker.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1731460&start=1890
Pretty sure they have CM plus its updates.

Regardless my point stands. 3+ FSJ? Find another lobby.

Two of them switched to FS at the last second

Yeah. The same thing happened to me. There were 2 FSJ players and right as the counter reached zero some faggot went FSJ. Good thing I was quicker on the esc key.

in SD44, how do you save the dudes in the top right corner in the first mission for the Germans?

>all those smokes from enemies lasing my tanks
>luckily trees threw off the wires and made them miss
>meanwhile my BMP's havent fired a single ATGM

r8

You need to deply some AA, give them one 1200 mobile AT gun on their Left flank (watch out for crewed AT guns). Maybe a 20mm auto user, 2 officers (for both 88s), and a supply truck. Re-enforcing them is way to troublesome once the fight starts, but you can still get your shit in position to fight off the main offensive, even if you have to put it off.

I guarantee unless you start everything over there, you won't be able to save both 88s, but you can get at least one.

How do you guys counter 88 spam?

Not enough mobile recon, otherwise not bad. Out of curiosity, what's so good about that yugo IFV? I've never used it.

Pin with artillery, bomb until gone

Off-maps at least 203mm and above. Set to barrage.

I've found this has very poor results against 88s given their relatively large crew, it takes way too long to take out even one gun
This seems to be the best strategy

So I'll make sure to space my 88's out when I next play my 88 spam deck

Ever tried smoke?

I'd say smoke is probably the most underutilised mechanic in this game.

I don't think I've ever seen anyone use smoke in any of my 1v1s

I had one guy who flawlessly used his starting mortars to pin and smoke while advancing in phase A. It was terrifying and I got absolutely stomped.

lmao, ded shit thred

140mms will kill them with that too. 88s are the only unit I know of that can't retreat, so a barrage off-map will kill them regardless of the caliber.

88s can retreat

As far as I've seen, they'll get the FALLING BACK! indicator but they won't actually move, or if they are, they just move veeerrrryyy slowly.

>they just move veeerrrryyy slowly.
I think it's this one. But I suppose that means your earlier statement is still true.

webms inc.

88s can retreat, they just move very slowly

Any one play Order of Battle, or Battle Academy 2?

They are trash.

If you want a hex game play SteelPanthers MBT or WW2

140mm.

Yes, it's sped up 10x, so in addition to a guaranteed 88 stunlock-until-killed, your opponent also gets to watch his 140pt uber AA die painfully slowly.

So they don't move. That explain alot

140mm again. Clearly not moving.

I don't think AT/AA guns heavier than 50mm should be capable of retreating at all, for that matter. You can't pack up and leave with those, you leave the gun and book it.

>Abandoning your gun
