>The results are in and Elon Musk’s flagship is faster than even he predicted. In Motor Trend’s acceleration test, the 2017 Tesla Model S P100D in Ludicrous+ mode set a new world record for zero to 60 acceleration at less than 2.3 seconds, a barrier crossed by no previously tested street legal car.

>This kind of acceleration could only be achieved by groundbreaking innovation no other car manufacturer has attempted before - that is burning the car itself for fuel

B-b-b-but Tesla is a meme!

>but MUH government subsidies
>but MUH dreamer
>but MUH sales

just face it, there's nothing this man can't do.

...

It's still losing money

It's a young automotive company. Are you seriously expecting gold and green fields right away?

That's nice, go around a corner fast and see what happens with that absurdly heavy car. Car handles like crap.

As a company it's a meme. Highly leveraged, rarely ever turns a profit.

On R&D you fucking retard. If Tesla just stopped developing new cars/better tech and pumped out Model S/X's they would be cash flow positive.

R&D is still a recurring expense nonetheless. Tesla needs it to design new products. His high tech business is captial intensive and has no durable competitive edge.

Even if he cut all R&D TSLA would trade at about 250 P/E

wrong

>electric engines are good at acceleration

no fucking shit, what other revelations have you got for us?

Tesla has spent only less than 800 million on R&D in 2016 (look up the numbers), while losing 900m.
Okay let's compare that to Daimler: 8,2 billion profit and 5,1 billion R&D.

TSLA is a big fat ugly bubble!

>Tesla has spent only less than 800 million
Where do companies get so much money from?

You could say the same for the mustang or camaro

>TSLA is a big fat ugly bubble!
t. oil muslim

You don't understand how fast 2.3 seconds is for a 0-60 time, especially for a production car being offered for sale to the public. It's as fast to 60 as the Bugatti Veyron, which costs upwards of $3 million.

Do they still put payroll under R&D and not SG&A?

>Bugatti Chiron
>One of the most expensive vehicles ever produced
>One of the fasted vehicles ever produced
>4400 pounds
>FIFTEEN HUNDRED horsepower
>$2.6 million, base

and yet

>In a 0-60 test
>the Chiron would only just keep pace with a Tesla
>a mass produced electric 4 door sedan that seats 5 adults

Electricity is just straight giggles

They're hardly comparable, the Chiron would ravage the Tesla on a track.

And honestly the Chiron is more like a very expensive watch, you appreciate it for it's engineering. As well for the fact that you can do 260 mph and turn on the aircon and your favorite tune, very little super or hyper cars are able to do that.

THAT CAN'T BE THE P85D!!! THOSE ARE THE NEET WHEELS! NOT THE FLASHY ONES!!

But what about 0-200?

Bump. I thought he only made about 200 million from selling PayPal so where did he get the rest from? And he blew so much money in a single year? Where is he getting so much money from? Tesla does not even have profits.
