Kill yourself, a clean E46 M3 looks timeless and classless. While the E36 M3 is a cool car, you can't show up to a funeral in one, or go shopping in one, it's too 'boy racer'-ey. The E36 as a whole is also now almost WRX STI levels of fedoraness.

Further, the S54 is also an unquestionably better than the S50 both in reliability and sound. It sounds far more unique, while the E36 M3 engine sounds good it doesn't have that metallic rasp of the E46.

I never said I disliked it, still one of the best cars ever made. If I were buying an M3 today I'd probably buy the E36 over the E46 due to them becoming rarer and I'd like to own one before they all either rust away or become extremely valuable. The E46 is just a better car though.

Also the E36 interior is just horrible in my opinion, it fell for the whole 90's thing of 'lets make everything super driver oriented' and it looks dated and not in a good way. The original four spoke steering wheel is also absolutely horrible.
