/egg/ - Engineering Games General - Formerly /svgg/

Cook-clang Edition
Previous jej: The thread is dedicated to all games about building machines and systems out of blocks, in space or otherwise. Also, all these games are ded. Only ded games may join, otherwise they must have their own thread.
Whether or not a game belongs in /egg/ is a case by case matter, however games that would belong in /svgg/, space voxel games general, are automatically considered /egg/

First for ultradead

Second for races

3rd for
>tfw no flavortown /egg/ game

4th for going fast

crossout is great for smashing the fuck out of shit and relieving anger

any other good smashing shit games?

close combat is best

Yeah, watching those goofy ass tower of machine gun parts scattered from afar is bretty good.

>rubbing hands
>any other good smashing shit games?
Very old, but: Severance: Blade of Darkness

>Mexican scam artist
Uh, I think they sold their game to somebody else.

Just sayin'

What are you even referencing
Cuckout is full of melee builds
They did but we have no idea what to make of this development and care even less.

What should an early noob do with his scrap?

It is worth it to make DIY crates and sell them in the market?

What even is it, like a hint to a name to google or something

The rocket sim game featuring little green tube headed men banned from Veeky Forums

Not even in the slightest. Hang on to it, wait for races to open for the first time after the scrap limit reset, buy a ton more, wait a few days, offload when it seems the price can't go any higher or the limit is about to reset.

A tall tower like structure with mg on top build I sometime had the pleasure of shooting at, you hit the tower body and all the mg go down with it.

Oh, you weren't being sarcastic. Yes, that's very satisfying. Ripping shit in half in a few shots in general is great.

>Severance: Blade of Darkness
I want things to break
bits to fly about
etc

Oh wow have I been out of the loop, thanks

CONTROL + R: rotate the pickup direction clockwise, skipping over the drop direction (SHIFT + R before 0.15)
CONTROL + SHIFT + R: rotate pickup direction anti-clockwise
CONTROL + F: toggle inserting items on near/far side of a transport belt
CONTROL + SHIFT + F: cycle inserting items on left/middle/right of destination - allows choice of lane on belt corners, or belts moving directly away from inserter
>Subterrain
Allows long underground belts, they use equivalent amount of belts from your inventory. Same for pipes.
>UsefulCombinators

>side inserters
literally cheating; it's about as bad as the people who can't into logistics so they just use the chest unloader

can confirm, side inserters warp the way you play the game and invalidate the majority of existing designs. you either play with them always forever, or you never play with them at all.

otherwise, seems like a fine server. only major quality of life mod missing is long reach.

>decor bonus
Fuck this is first time I noticed that. I sold my last two decor piece that I found.

Is that bonus worth the effort of investing into it?

Only place I really make use of them is this spaghetti shit. Near/far inserters are a lot more useful for me, but either way I don't really care if people use them or not, it's there so I can squeeze an extra assembler into some odd corner

Not that dead, really.

vanilla game id agree with this

if playing bobs/angels though, those side inserters are a godsend

>race
>leading in first by a longshot
>not even using boosts anymore, just cruising
>explode
>respawn, still in first
>explode insttantly
>respawn, in second
>first is shit talking about how sebulba always wins
I really don't understand.

>I sold my last two decor piece that I found.
dude...
>Is that bonus worth the effort of investing into it?
make the math...
I think it is worth it, free rep bonus with every game in exchange for some parts.
Not like pic related from the Exhibition, but around 10% is fine.

Loaders were LITERALLY added by the devs. There's no cheating if it's intended.

>explode
>...
>first is shit talking about how sebulba always wins
JUST

>There's no cheating if it's intended
If loaders are intended, why're they not in any version of vanilla?
checkmate cheatfags

Red Faction: Guerrilla is pretty damn good for that, lots of environmental destruction. Pretty much going to be entirely buildings you're tearing down though.

Loaders were LITERALLY made inaccessible because they were OP and removed much of the game's logistical challenges.

Engineering?

I mean you are right if it comes to math.
I was more thinking about space investment. It's probably best on small fast units but tanks does care about total parts that can be used as armor.

Anyway thanks, learn something everyday I guess.

Wrong tab, my man.

>I was more thinking about space investment. It's probably best on small fast units but tanks does care about total parts that can be used as armor.
I'm often in the situation, that additional parts don't really add something because the have too much weight for their armor rating. So I take some extra % instead of decreased maneuverability for a bit more armor.
Well, and for races: Put on all Bling Bling!

Jesus Christ the people playing Crossout are fucking retarded
>Everyone rushes enemy
>Nobody left in base
>I'm the only faggot defending the base against the enemy

Half of the time I'm the one saving base while everyone gets fucked. Every time we lose because nobody thought "Hey, maybe this game isnt just a deathmatch but there is also a base capturing system"

Remember user, you are the only constant!

I'm angry, angry about Russians

>kinetic torpedos only work if it's an npc
care to explain?
I am assuming you know about real-time motion tracking through camera arrays
(to all the simspeed arguments: multiserb mod)
come on, there are plent more designs
I personally like the engine inhibitor: landing gear torpedo with timer and gyros on override
bonus if you can cash out some thrusters you can add a 6-pack for even worse maneouvering

It's not the people. It's the system that fucking sucks. You get nothing for either defending or attacking base. It just ends the match faster

how do I git gud at designing ships in From The Depths

da fuck happened here

where can I discuss rimworld or Kerbal Space Program?

come on /seg/, I know you are in there! wake up /seg/! wake up!

>rimworld
In the city building general
>[redacted]

Anywhere but here

You do realiZe the game only lasts four minutes right? There is no TIME to stay and defend base. There are only two possible outcomes to doing that and bost cause you to lose.

Looks like whatever was in that cooker spent too long under pressure

>You get nothing for attacking base
You do. Each captured sector gives 100 points, so you can get 300 for capping the base. The issue is that destroying and damaging enemies gives a lot more points, so unless you have literally no weapons left, it's better to just plink some cars.

What's with the Kerbal hate? I'm new to this general and never visited the Kerbal one.

>when you hit the boost button anyway

you are better not knowing.
don't mention it, you don't wanna get banned

Long story short, it became a literal shitposting hive, full blown bestiality, ban evading and all that.
Mods nuked it from Veeky Forums, keyword triggered autosages, ban-on-sight policy and all that

Rimworld has sporadically general threads up. Right now it's super dead.
You wouldn't like it there anyway mate. It was being constantly shat on by some retarded futafag

>What's with the Kerbal hate? I'm new to this general and never visited the Kerbal one.
It's banned from Veeky Forums for a reason, and banned from /egg/ because they aren't allowed to come here.
And it will never be allowed here.
That's all you really need to know.

Damn, I thought people were just memeing about it.

sick i got embers paint from a DIY, its a dull Orange compared to the pink paint you get

One or two shitposters managed to kill an entire thread and breed some epic anti-fanbase who continuously validates their achievement, that you see here.

This isn't the Rocket League general, bud

DIY? Do you by any chance mean the Medium Wheel Crates?

why's the crossout suicide thing so unreliable for killing?

The driver must be dead

because you don't have enough barrels

So, for the user in I was planning on using the cannon mainly for base busting and to cripple big, slow ships, since the ammo is pretty darn expensive to produce and deals absurd damage. I tested the ammunition beforehand and it deals pretty good destruction, in the webm there's an early version test I did with it, where there's only one warhead in the tip (it was supposed to be HEAT ammo) tested against heavy armor, and the results are pretty impressive. I thought of replacing some of the casing for more warheads, but I fear it'll be way too expensive to build and turrets would be able to destroy the projectile mid-flight.

As for the torpedoes, I thought of adding a drill on their tips to deal with way too heavy armor, but I know a friend who did this in several servers and was banned in the majoroty of them. Some people out there don't like being outsmarted that much.

whatever crate you get from winning races, i opened like 12 in a row and the last one was this nice orange pain

>nice orange pain
That's the exact same thing I get out of every DIY crate

>why's the crossout suicide thing so unreliable for killing?

Because it got nerfed hard. It used to have a huge blast radius and was able to kill people from full health instantly. It also had no countdown timer.

But then tons of players started ALLAHU ACKBAR'ing into the enemy team at the start of matches, and the instant somebody feared they would lose a 1 on 1 fight they would suicide and kill you instantly.

Devs started asking for any ideas players might have and an /egg/man actually suggested a blinking red light to let people know they are counting down to a self destruct, and the devs went with it. Then they nerf'd the damage and blast radius, so that it still hurts, but wont be taking out full health players.

And what that other user said. If you want, strap on a bunch of fuel barrels for more boom. They will do alot of damage if you can get them to explode right next to the enemy car.

In closed beta some people actually used fuel barrels as reactive armor against melee grinder builds. Fuel barrels sticking out on sticks around their car so any claoked melee guy would get a face full of explosions as soon as they made contact, and blow off all their grinders/augers.

>opening DIY crates
Good goys!

>Doing race for first time
>Doing fine for a while
>Suddenly my steering stops working completely for no apparent reason, go straight into a rock
>Get back on the road but now my steering seems delayed by a full second
>Keep overcorrecting because steering wont listen
>Go back to garage because fuck whatever this is

>drills
not grinders

if you do testing like this do it for the standard spengo set:
a) light 1
b) light 2
c) light, space, light
d) heavy 1
e) heavy 2
f) heavy 10
g) heavy space heavy
h) heavy wheel heavy (can't remember which tire was best, so you might wanna test with all 3 sizes)
i) heavy wheel space heavy, or heavy space wheel heavy, can't remember the proper order

p.s. no warheads, just kinetics, try it ball it for speed

stellar overload

>not opening them for the small chance of getting something worth thousands of shekels like a horn

hmm

Is Empyrion worth it at $10?

pirate it and find out

good idea

>leviathan has only gotten 3 battles over 24 hours on a saturday

rip leviathans

no, looks decent at first but a couple hours in it becomes obvious how awfully shallow it is

...

Ye that's kind of my fear with it. I've watched a couple hours of gameplay and haven't been able to tell if it ever gets better. Plus the weapons in general make my dick soft. It's alright though I just got into Starmade so I don't need more spess atm.

>holding them all until they devaluate the most
Genius idea

Less people play invasion and there's more leviathans than last week. And it'll get worse.

>selling right now
nope
also every crate is less than a day old...

Also influx of new players aren't there to fight levis yet

I don't understand what I'm looking at here

How the fuck am I supposed to improve my leviathan if I can't watch it fight?

Also jesus christ I though this small hands things was just a meme

Use guidance you nonce. There is no reason for unguided torpedoes in 2017.

This game is a grindfest

Also how do i make money?

So that's why people put their fuel on a spar on their ass.

Sell shit. Buy low sell high. I also don't see how it's a grindfest. Free 60K XP at 400% bonus every day.

>how maek $$$

Sell things on the market. Do raids and get copper. Sell copper on the market. You can sell just about anything on the market for gold.

>How the fuck am I supposed to improve my leviathan if I can't watch it fight?

You can test drive your leviathan. All its guns will be controlled by AI, but you cna drive it around. Hit "O" while in test drive and it will spawn a bunch of shitty enemies around the test drive map who will head right for you. Then you can see how the leviathan does while you drive it around.

horns are purple, purple things don't drop from white boxes. You see purple and blue items take up the majority of the roulette wheel when you open them, but that's an underhanded and disgusting psychological trick to make you get more boxes and waste resources. It's literally gambling, and not like throwing dice, it's like gambling in a casino. The house always wins. Even getting a blue item is literally less than 1%, I watched youtube vids with guys opening hundreds of DIY crates and not getting a single blue item. If you open them, they managed to manipulate you into thinking it's worth it.

tl;dr: Don't open DIY boxes.

it's a torpedo, hitting heavy armour
probably gravpropelled
as said:
pastebin.com/nydcemYR

>test drive your leviathan
I know, but that's utterly useless, those 1000ps AI have nothing in common with the 4000+ps Humans it will go against later. Also there's no pumpjack (or whatever it is) to destroy, which is the main objective for the leviathan

the main objective is either destroying the pumpjack or surviving the few minutes it is alive

Test drive still doesn't really provide anything useful

this is true, i was just saying your leviathan has to either destroy the pumpjack or just survive to win

what about killing the players?

that too, but i sort of just throw that under surviving

please respond
