First time Blizzard came up with original Warcraft lore in 10 years, and it was actually really creative. 5.2 was one of the best patches and the best raid since Ulduar. SoO was great before the 13 months we played it for, and Monk was really fun, fistweaving especially. Timeless Isle is one of the most entertaining post-expac launch hubs to ever come out, on-par with 2.4's Quel'Danas. Expansion launched with multiple raids as well, all taking place in different environments, yet none of them took too long, and all had interesting and fun mechanics to them.

I'd say the only expansion that topped MoP in encounter design is Pre-6.2 WoD,
because BRF was amazing.

I just liked the general theme of the expansion. I'm quite a sucker for ancient Chinese things. I found the Mantid to be an interesting race as they were these typical bug creatures but with an advanced society. Take the Paragons for instance, they are all Mantid champions that were later incased in amber to be released when the Queen doesn't do her job properly. The Mogu was also pretty cool to dig into, especially Lei Shen.

Other than lore the patch content was good (compared to WoD at least). ToT gave us an entire Island to explore along with the huge raid. SoO gave us The Timeless Isle that was quite a fun playing ground to muck about in. And they made it so that professions such as BS wasn't completely useless after the initial launch of the expansion.

Though, I must admit that SoO lasted for way too long. I got so sick of MoP for that year. But looking back the expansion was a very enjoyable experience as a whole.

Fucking this. Legion was great at Launch, then when you realized that 5 man dungeons could give you loot almost as good as Mythic raiding gear the game lost all of its joy.

I mean AP. I also didn't really mind the loot that you get from M+ scaling to the max ilv, since it's so unreliable that you're going to end up getting almost everything from raid anyway. The biggest problem is the legendary system, but since no one is going to accept Blizz taking they +% dmg toys, I doubt they could fix it.
I don't actually play anymore (stopped a few weeks after the elf raid launched), so maybe things got worse
