I think monster fights would've been better if they ditched the animation that plays when they first meet each other, but I get why they did that. I also think the fast health regen is a demo thing or an armor skill.

But the MH animations are not janky, they look somewhat unrealistic (when going from animation to animation), but they looks great themselves and are pretty much perfect video game animations.
