A bunch of 60 something women in finland got scammed out of hundreds of thousands of euros online. I thought it is impossible for people to fall for nigerian prince style scams but I guess they do work. One of the scams that was on the news worked a bit like this

>tells the woman he wants to send his wealth to finland to be safe since he got transferred to afghanistan
>the woman gets bills about a packet that does not exist
>she pays them to an indonesian bank account
>she gets taxes that do not exist and gets told that she has committed money laundering if she does not pay
>this goes for long enough and she pays payments that are up to tens of thousands each
>finally gets asked for 190k
>she finally realizes something is wrong
There also was a story about a finnish woman that burnt her 200k retirement fund and says she is too scared to tell her husband about it. So becoming a con man is always an option.
