You walk around with the Axe, not kidding.
If you're not interested in minmaxing you can invest in Evade Extender to get around with the awful mobility.

It's still classic monhun gameplay, just with new features. The core is still using a variety of weapons with similar movesets to the previous games to hunt big monsters by hitting them and not getting hit.

I must have changed it years ago, it just feels natural to me at this point.

And yeah, they seem to have gone the route of incorporating a bunch of utility skills into the base mechanics of the game, like Capture Guru (heartbeat), Autotracker (Scout Flies).
It leaves me wondering: Do armour skills even exist anymore at this point? Have they been severely trimmed? Redesigned?

With QOL features being added to base, maybe that gives us more room for actual boosts.

I have a confession. I fucking hate fighting any of the Raths yet find Yian Garuga fun and satisfying to fight. I don't get it.

At endgame yeah it's pretty nice

It's a good general purpose LBG, but it'll be beaten out by elemental guns on a bunch of fights. Ultimately unless you're challenging yourself to get the fastest kills you can then it'll serve you really well. It also fills the unique niche of being the only LBG that can rapid fire Slicing S, if i'm not mistaken.

His HBG and Bow are also extremely powerful.

Oh, and you might already know this, but his guns auto-load 1 bullet every time you roll with them.

It's not that they "hate" it per se, it's because Capcom may or may not have decided not to localize the Switch version of MHXX. Sure it's not World, but at least they'd have a Monster Hunter game so there's something for everyone, but Nintendo will get left out of the loop due to Capcom's decision. And since we live in the console war age, they're going to blame Sony, Xbone, and/or PC.

Can't say I love Garuga or find it fun to fight, but I still prefer hunting 10 of those OCdonotsteel Kutkus than hunting a single azure rathalos or any other rath at G-rank.

I think it has to do with the fact that you're bombarded with all kinds of rath quests throughout the entire game, in almost every game, while Yian Garuga doesn't get as much spotlight as Mr. and Mrs. Never-enough-subspecies.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the only animation that indicates a monster's health is limping which is only done out of combat? If you're talking about fatigue animations like stumbling and failed attacks, that's not related to monster health at all.

I wouldn't support a standard healthbar and I definitely would prefer if there were more clear animation tells, but I don't intrinsically dislike the addition of the heartbeat monitor.

How competitive was Furia Sedition anyway? I'd imagine Limiter Off Pierce Lv2 would be nice with auto-load but you'd have some compromises with the Recoil +2 requirement

It was largely monster dependent I think. It performed very well on monsters that required you to do a lot of rolling, like Shaggy, that were also weak to pierce. Other monsters that just needed standard Normal 2 spam the Livid Griscannon was better, and there were better siege bowguns available for monsters that didn't require you to stay as mobile.

Yeah I wrote that up in a bit of a hurry while a bit tired, basically what I meant was that I would have preferred if they had made/added more idle animations and stuff that related to monster health, but instead they added the heartbeat which to me just seems like kind of a budget method of achieving the same thing.
