Is there anything shittier than pushrods?

is there anything shittier than pushrods?

Yes. Rotary.

Probably both of your autism levels.

nope, even rotaries are actually better than pushrods

Flathead

nice projection, retard

yes overhead cam with retarded chain layouts and plastic tensioners

...

yes what about it we all know ecoboost btfo gm

In 500 years their will still be L head briggs happily cutting grass

Two words: Apex Seals

I don't understand why camshafts are still a thing? Why not just control valve position electronically?

Two words: Electricity Sucks

Injector pulse is electric, why not valves?

KÅ“nigeggs already experiments with this.

Yes, yes you are

Make way for the king

>is there anything shittier than pushrods?

This thread.

yes, transverse leaf springs

why not hydraulically? lifters already have been hudraulic, why not ditch the cam?

the front was more interesting.

It's not reliable yet.

I had a similar idea to reduce valve float

pull-rods maybe.

sohc for sure same amount of valves, can barely rev higher and is more complex/takes up more space

What turns the camshaft in the pic?

Satisfying to watch but desmo is garbage

hopes and dreams my friend, hopes and dreams.

OP's Ass, after a night out with his BF.

VW DOHC engines with plastic tensioners

a pulley connecting the cam and crank

In what way?

They don't have pushrods for one

They won le mans less

Do most pushrod engines have the cam ontop of the block?

If its a V configuration, yes. About the only place it will work.

Yeah, bent pushrods.

yeah, right between the V part

I don't know why so many people hate pushrod engines, they're a ton simpler to work on and it's loads cheaper to upgrade your cam (not cams!). Also, nothing feels quite as manly as adjusting your rockers

OHC is less complicated in the actual valvetrain part but requires more complex timing setups.
Only having to shell out for one cam as opposed to two or four is pretty nice though.

What is this from?

I had always heard that OHC were way easier to mess with in the long run as long as you're good with setting the timing. But yeah, only changing one cam sounds way better. My SC400 is DOHC with variable valve timing, and if it wasn't for me ex-engine building step dad I'd be lost putting everything back together.
